It will be a new exciting season
for the Saugeen Bach Choir. Just
gently, theSaugeen Bach Chair
anuourr its ts um seasou for
1990/91. After last year's highly
suceessful season, the, Saugeeri,
Bach Choir is heading to new
heights.. On the itirnera are perfor-
mances
erformances at Christmas time and at the
annual Saugeen Festival of Musico
a performahce in St. Catharines
with the Niagara Symphony Or-
chestra; and a concert tour to Rus'
sia in conjunction with a cultural
exchange.
Most important of all our concerts
will be the Nath American premier°-
. of Franz Liszt's Oratorio Christus,
rediscovered in 1970, but never
performed yet in North America, it
requires about 180 performers::
orchestra and `choir combined. It
can be placed in its importance for
the musical literature beside `Han-
del's Messiah, VRequiem. and
Bach's Mass in B Mucor.
Looking back at the history of the'
Saugeen Bach Choir andits rfar-
mances, it seems to be unreal that a
rural choir is able to achieve what -
this choir has achieved so, far. So
one on look with great excitement
at this project because - this will
expose the Saugeen Bach Choir to
a much; greater audience in Toronto-
and Kitchener, the major, cultural,
centres of Ontario. An enlarged
Kitchener -Waterloo. symphony
Orchestra is contracted for the three
performances, one in the Saugeen
area, one in Kitchener and one in
Toronto.
