The Hydro Situation - We had
the privilege . the other day of
looking on a letter from the Hydto
Electric Commission to the Village
Council explaining the seeming
delay in completing the line to.
Luclotow.. When . the, facts . are
known, there is nothing to• worry
about. There is some ff culty in
getting material for the substations,
but the engineer gives assurance
that the Commission will be able to
deliver current to part of the Luck
now system by the first of Decem-
ber, and to the remainder of the
system early in that month. An
effort is being made W get service
F to Lucknow, Teeswater. and Win-
gham about the same time: The
engineer explains that there is no
• advantage in completing the lines
before the substations are ready.
The gang of pole and line men will
be back on the Lucknow line by
Friday of this week, so that the line
will be completed by the time the
substation at Holyroodis ready;
Our council is to be commended
for its persistency in insisting that
the Lucknow line be pushed, and in
getting all possible information
about the progress of the work.

Second Well Being Defined - For
the past week drilling operations
have been in progress . at. the
auxiliary well of the local water
system. The contract was let to F.L.
Davison : of Wingham, who has . a
modern drilling rig on the location.
The completerigging is carried
on, a truck which can be easily
placed in position, and which car-
ries its own power for drilling. It is
complete even to a forge attachment
for sharpening the drills. A swivel
attachment keeps the drill

The original well was some 125
feet in` depth , and the drilling is
beingcarried on down through the

rock is reached and the required
water supply secured.
On Wednesday the well had been
sunk another 75 feet to a depth of
about 200 feet and samples indicate
that harder rock is being reached.
