one -speed bike, non -sip, for 30
minutes as September 166

Pat Henry, activities co-ordinator at
Bruceleat Haven, Walketlon, urged

Due to his lastininute decision to
participate* Henderson had no spon-
sorship sheet in hand - when he
- approached the remotion desk. ,
However, he .osdmated he would
raise abut $50 front friends after

successful ride. It turned out' Mr.
Henderson raised over. $200.
Mr. Henderson was the oldest
participant in the Terry Fox Run.
The 10 -kilometre marathon was
open to runners, bikers and walkers.-

30 minutes without stopping"
He said he was "a little scared"
when he turned north onto gravel
road, into a strong headwind., But
he made the run successfully. p `
Good` therapy'
Mr. Henderson took -up biking
about seven years ago when his ,
doctor said bike riding would be -,
good therapy to heal a broken leg.
He was working at C ` and M
Transport in Lucknow • when ..he
decided to trade inhis pickup 'truck
for a two -Wheeler. He moved to
Wallterton's Brucelea Haven Hone
• for the Aged three years' ago, taking
his with him.

Haven Auxiliary and I'm the
president of the residents' council."

bikes around Walkerton in the early
morning hours, pedalling about five
miles a day.
He said his goal is al some "day
bike from Walkerton to Mildmay,
Clifford, Neustadt, Hanover and
home again.
"Some day I'll feel like it and I'll
do it."
Kairshea holds curator's .meeting
Alien Bradley was hostess for.
the September meeting of the Kair-
shea Institute on Thursday, Septem-
ber 28 at 8 p.m. Muriel MacKenzie
welcomed the -16 members and
time visitors and read a humorous
article on "government Laws 50
years ago."
We repeated the Opening Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect. Una Mat-
thews
acthews read the Scripture. The
minutes were read and approved.
The committee reported on the
Food booth at the Edisbury Sale on
July 30th. There..was also a report
on the lunch booth and dinners
which were served et the Craft
Festival on August 3.
There were 17 Institute members
who had a trip to Bayfield on Aug.
16 where they enjoyed going
through the Shops. Dinner was,the
Candlelight Restaurant in Goderich.
There was • a beautiful display of
quilts to be viewed at the Museum -
also a film and many historical
things are there to see.
There was also aCotnmittee who.
served lunch at the Community
Centre on September 1, following
the Forster/Strong Wedding. The
Institute had a beautiful display at
the Lucknow Fall Fair on Sept.
16th.
The Grey Bruce Area Convention
is being held in the Lucknow Com-
munity Centre on Thursday, Oct.
4th. Lucknow, Holymod and Kair-
shea Institutes are hosting this Con-
vention,
The Institute is most appreciative
to Jean Hughes for her generous
donation.
The Institute Rally will be in
Lion's Head on Thursday, October
18.
Una Matthews, Curator Convenor,
presided for the
program. The
rollcail was answered by each one
naming an historical date and the
event. This proved to be most
interesting.
Bill Collins and his wife Freda
from the Bruce Beach area were the
guests, Bill had several copies of
the new Pictorial Book of Bruce
County. He went through the book
and commented on certain pictures
of interest to us. Freda gave an
interesting slide presentation and
commentary of their recent trip to
Russia. She had several souvenirs
from Russia to show us. They were
thanked by Allene Bradley and
presented with a gift
Una Matthews had an interesting
collection of old post cards on
display. She also thanked the hos-
tess and those who helped.
Marion MacKinnon and Margaret
Mowbray assisted by the hostess
served refreshments and a social
time was enjoyed.
Mary Levis, the International
Affairs Convenor, is to be the hos-
tess for the October Meeting on
October 25 at 8 p.m.
