Last Thursday, the New Democratic Party- (NDP) swept to power in Ontario, including a close victory,; in Huron, The ` Huron Liberals, . ,led by Clinton's " Jim - Fitzgerald, finished a distant third. "Everyone Workccd. very, very hard. It's onee of the best campaigns I've' been . in, but you just can't buck the tidal wave," Mr. Fitzgerald `toldppa�ers. "Hopefully we'll ••keep all the Liberals together and we'll be there to fight again -- keep your chins tip." Mr. Fitzgerald finished with 6,653 votes, while the NDP's Paul Klopp won the riding with 10,020, less than a 1,000. more than Progressive.. Conservative (PC) candidate Ken Campbell.
