Clark gets FP -nomination
BY DAVID EMSLIW
CLI ON - Members of the.
Fancily Coalition Party (FCP) have
high hopes for their candidates
this year, and carrying these hopes
to the polls in the Huron Riding
will be Tom Clark. •
Prior to Mr. Clark's nomination
at the August 13 meeting at the
Clinton Town. Hall, Paul Dodds,
. the legal counsel and campaign
manager for the party provtnce-
wide, discussed the rising
popularity of the FCP.
Although the party was formed
just two weeks prior to the last
provincial election, beginning with
three candidates, but finishing
with.. 36: at the close of
nominations, they captured, in
some areas, a good number of
votes, and never finished worse
than fourth.
Noting that he feels the FCP
will be in a close racg to the end,
if not the winners, in some of
'their popular areas, such as
Lambton and Peterborough, Mr.
Dodds stated, "There are going to
be a surprising number of ridings
where the Conservatives will find
themselves safely relegated to
fourth spot."
Mr. Clark, who ran for the
Christian Heritage Party in the last
federal election, was the only
nominee at a meeting of about 30
people. The Wingham salesman

typifies the FCP's belief in the
family unit as he has been married
for 29 years, and has seven
children.
• His acceptance s centred
on the'importance of
and of Christian values.
"There was a time in Ontario
when the Conservative and Liberal
parties defended Judeo-Christian
values. They defended. the family,
they defended morality," he said,
adding that there has been a
complete turnaround over the last
25 years, and the other parties are
now attacking these values and
beliefs.
He cited that fact that religious
education, morning prayers, and
the Bible have been taken out of
the public school system. In the
system, he said, there is no God,
no devil, and there are no ab-
solutes. The children, he feels, are
told to do what they like.
"So, when they get to their
teenage years, they act like the
devil; they are taught by the
devil," Mr. Clark stated. "The
public school system is in a
shambles,"
He added that all of his children
attend a Christian institute in
London, but many people can't
afford to send their children away
for Christian training. For this
reason, he said he would like to
see Christian schools across the
province which receive funding
from the government.
Although it may seem humanly
impossible to have a FCP member
in Queen's Park, Mr. Clark told
his supporters that "humanly" is
not a concern, as they are working
for God's beliefs.
"The Family Coalition Party is
the only party that believes there
is a God, there is hell, there are
absolutes."
He noted that people with good
Christian values, who don't
believe in abortion, will still vote
for the Liberals, the Conservatives
or the New Democrats, just
because that is the way their
fathers or grandfathers voted. He
urged these people to break the
pattern, and support the FCP.
"We need support, we need
workers, we need money, but
most of all, we need prayer," Mr.
Clark said, as when people get to
heaven, God won'task them if
they ever won an election, but if
they were good in their time on
Earth.
