Today. in Ontario, all fire 'departments are . equipped and
trained to work closely with bcith the ambulance and:pollee
departments. -
Too often In the past, when someone called for assistance
In an emergency situation, they notified only police and
ambulance. When these people arrived on the scene they
found they needed the help of the fire department with
extraction equipment and/or fire protection. They must then
call out the nearest fire department. This means time and
time can and has cost lives.
Remember, in many Instances your fire department can be
at the scene before the ambulance or police.
Your local fire department belongs to you, let us help. The
emergency number Is 528-3131. Peter Steer, Fire Chief.

English boy takes French leave
- Mr. John D. MacLeod, of the 5th
concession, Kinloss, has been much
puzzled for the past couple of
weeks over the sudden disap-
pearance of Willie Fleetwood, an
English lad about 17 years of age,
who had been with him the far the
past year and four months.
Mr. MacLeod bought a bicycle
for the lad a few weeks ago, and he
was riding about on Sunday, August
8. During the evening he was at
George Taylor's, and as it became
dark before he thought of returning
to MacLeod's, he accepted an in-
vitation to stay for the night. In the
morning he went away on his
wheel, presumably to go to
MacLeod s. Rut he evidently
decided to ' go elsewhere, for
MacLeod has not since seen him,
nor has been able to learn
anything of him.
Mr. MacLeod will be very glad to
get any information about the lad,
as he had come to regard him al-
most as one of the family.
