visited Luta Lynn's Dude Manch

the Casey.Jones Village inJackson,
Tennessee which took them on a
journey through .railroad history,
Once. in Memphis, . they visited-,
Gracelafnd, .the Marne of . Rhe late
Elvis Presley, andthen for another
cruise. 'This ' cruise was on an
old fasliiened paddle -wheel boat
called the Island Queen and they
travelled• the muddy MirosimiPPi
River.

Lynchburg, Tennessee, it was on 1 o

held at Brookside Public School.
Master of Ceremonies for the
evening was Don Fraser,,. of CKNX,
A welcome poem was recited by
Jenny Tucker, who, later on in the
evening was crowned Fair Princess.
Taylor Park was crowned Fair,
Prince.. These two lucky young
people's names were selectedin a -
random. draw. The near capacity
crowd was treated to the ,melodic
strains of the Notable Choice Bar-
ber Shop Quartet from Seaforth.
Then all toes were tapping as a
step dance' duo named Footloose
performed their routines. Nicole
Sherwood and Karen Lajuenesse,
both of Goderich made up the
�Sherlyn Ribey •of Niue was
vocalist and sang two selections,
Fiddle player Wes Drennan, elso of
Niles was accompanied by Arnold
Craig onu the guitar. Country ringer,.
Julie Thompson, of Lucknow was `
accompanied by her father, Bill on
the guitar. The crowd thoroughly
'enjoyed the talent of .tthese young
people.
The highlight of the evening was.
the crowning of the new Miss Duo-
gannon Fair 1990. Congratulations
and best wishes go out. to,
17 -Year-old Sheri Hord, of Col-
borne Township, who will be reig-
ning queen for the next year.

with Alma Black in charge. Since
she Was • a delegate to the W.I.
World Convention, held at Carleton
University in Ottawa recently, she
gave its some of the highlights of
the different programs. Six hundred
were in attendance and the different
nations thatched in-w.ith their own
flag and lined in; in a semi -circle,,
on stage at the first lecture.
The theme throughout was.
conservation and:, recycling. The
City of Ottawa proudly presented
their contributions to a cleaner
world. ' All fallen leaves am con-

which lunch was served by Joan

return -from
Scotland

Alien and Evylene MacTavish,
Rod and Audrey MacDonald have
recently returnedfrom spending two
weeks in Scotland. While there they
spent one week on tour on the
islands of Lewis, Harris, North and
South Uist and Barra of the Outer
Hebrides. One week was spent on
the mainland of Scotland visiting
points of . interest there. They were
fortunate to be able to spend time
with Mr. Willy McLean of Shadir
on the Isle of Lewis and spoke to
Mr. Bill Lawson elf Harris. Both
men have spent time visiting Ripley
and researching family histories of
this arca.
Spending the weekend with Mrs.
John C. MacDonald were Angus
and Kristien MacLeod of the Isle of
