Workman The Board of Directors and staff of the Day Centre have been very busy with some new developments. First of all, the Day Centre is no longer known es the Whighaarn and •Area Day. Centre far the Home- bound:, the official title of the day centre is the Winghani and Area Seniors Day Centre. The clients felt that a name change would promote a more positive image for the role that the Day Centre plays in the commanity.,.The; Day. Centre under its new name will continueto serve those in need of a Home Support Service by providing the opportuni- ty to participate in social, recrea- tional programs outside the *home, at least once a week. The Day Centre is fortunate to have an addition to the staff. Kate ,iheiffer, originally from the • Teeswater area, has been added to' the' staff as Recreation Activity Programmer. 'Because a we serve clients from , Bruce - County, the Waterloo Office of the Ministry of Community and; Social Services has contributed some operating,. dollars that has allowed the Day Centre to make this, addition; to the staff,_ Hopefully. by October 1990, .the Day. Centre will occupy a new facility located on Josephine Street beside Cruickshank Park in Wingham. The .new facility will : be owned and • constructed- by' McDougall Construction. The Ministry of Community and Social Services granted some dollars to assist in the construction of the new facilityin exchange for a long term lease. The clients, staff, volunteers and board members are looking forward to the move. Over the last years we have 'been for- tunate to have had : an agreement with the Town of Wingham. by .ren ting the armories in exchange for a• grant. The Day Centre Board ap- preciates everything the town has done for the centre over .the, years. The Day Centre is moving . to another location to allow for the ex- pansion apansion of staff and programs. New Program A new program .that will begin once we have moved into the new location, is a Day Away Program for those with Alzheimers or related disorders. We are entering the planning stages that will outline the details for the program. More information will follow at a later date. Now it's time tostell you about the programs Weare planned for the rest of Ju going to become in- volved in our craft program once again, in preparation for the An- nual Craft and Bake Sale schedul- ed for November. The Water Exer- cise Program has had a great, tur- nout. Due to all the developments at the Centre the Water Exercise Prograih has been reduced to five weeks. If you would like some more information, please give us a call. The plays at the Blyth Festival Theatre have been extremely popular this year. We are planning to see "Albertine, In Five Times" on August 2 and "Firefly" on August 23. We will also be taking in a play at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend. We will see "Annie Get Your Gun" on August 28th. On July 24 we will be host to clients, staff and volunteers of the Huron Day Centre in Clinton. The staff are busy putting together some special entertainment and ac- tivities for the afternoon. Everyone is looking forward to the visit. A Mystery Tour is scheduled for Ju- ly 25. Sorry! I can't tell you where the bus will take you. We have more people sign up for bus trips where they dont know where they are going, than when they do. Volunteers assist 10 the operation of the centre by helping out with driving, preparing meals and driv- ing participants to and from the program. The Day Centre needs a driver from the Kintail area. The two-year-old victim's gents was reversing the tractor and did not notice the victim was behind the -tractor. The right rear wheel ran over the vicdbn.'s .head. 1The ';9�yearold victim was drivein shed working under a cultivator attached totrac. . tor and was replacing cultivator teeth.. The cultivator slipped down' pirating the victim under it. The victim's head was pushed forward against the chest rendering the'vic. tin unable to breathre. •� Shame - The victim was gyrating a farm tractor with a dise tiller at- tached by means of a chain. A witness 'observed the victim on several occasions in the morning off the tractor adjusting the chain.. At a. later time the 'tractorwas observed upside down and the 74 -year-old victim was located beneath the tractor. Lennox/Addington - The victim was .operating a farm tractor with. ,a bush hog attached to a three point hiteh,•atlempting to move a stump using a chain which was at Lath ed behind bush hog. The stump broke .apart and the tractor wen forward over leery rough ground. The 74•yearold vietim fell. off and was run over by the tree- Dufferin It appears that the vie. Um was in the process of building a log retaining all along a steep embankment, operating a farm tractor equipped with a seven foot 'scraper blade, attached to a'three point hitch.on the rear of the trae- tor. The tractor got too close to the soft edge of the bank} the dirt gave way under the wheelsand the tragi tor rolled over landing upside down on of the 64 -year-old victim. Grey _- The 39 -year-old victim was driving a farm - tractor along .the shoulder of a county road, when • the right front wheel dropped off the shoulder causing the tractor to go over the edge and roll, down, the 10 metre embankment. The parent noticed that the child hal . wandered away and went to look for the child.
