Like any sound business, the
Bruce County Area Recycling Com-
mittee is trying to get the Blue Box
recycling program operating effi-
ciently; Area Recycling Co-,
Ordinator Wayne Fenton said
Thursday.
The total cost to implement the -
pmts.= is between 035,000 and
1110•000i--10dCt Fenton. Moneys to
fund the operation come from three
sources: $196,000 from the MOE,
*$145,000 from the Ontario Multi -
Material Recyclbig Incorporated,
and $225,000 from the nine par-
ticipating Entmiti_es, to be col-
lected on a per fthold basis.
The sum of all the funding up
costs, with extra money for a
reserve fund and/or overbudget
costs on. the facility,
The • $225,000 share from . the
municipalities works out to a $14.75
per household basis. 'Olerating

to dump it m the ground?"
The costs to maintain a landfill
site as well as to the environment
are too high, Penton said. „
The only way the venture will be
money -making is if the revenue
from sales goes up, he said. The
recycling program is non-profit.
The committee has looked for the
nearest possible markets for reoYel-
ed waste.coming out of the soon to
be built recycling Wilding, he said.
The only market for one. product
coming out of the recycling facili-
ty, newsprint, is in Thorold, where
is located the only de-inldng plant
'in Canada, Fenton said. Shipping
the newsprint to Thorold would be
too expensive, he said.
