PINE RIVER
UNITED. CHURCH U,C,W.
The United Church Women of the
Pine River United Church had their
June meeting June 12 at the cot-
tage inda Campbell at Point
Clark,
• The. meeting opening with a sldt,
which was put on by Audrey
Ferguson, Barbara Messenger, Ann
Boyd and Helen Hunter.
Audrey Ferguson read a ,scrip-
ture from the Bible and led in
prayer.
The meeting was given over to
Mark Daymer of Huron Township,
Last winter Mark was an exchange
person from Canada to Pakistan.
He showed us •many slides that
were taken while in that country.
It was all very iasteresting and
gave us all quite anip into
that country, the peoplee, their dif-.
ferent. outlook in religion. The men
and women are very segregated,
they are not allowed to be together,
even a husband and wife are not
allowedto walk down the street
together. The girls and boys are
put into separate schools, The girl
may be only 13 years when she is
married and very possibly she will
not ,know who her husband is Until
after the ceremony. (They both
wear some kind of veil):
The president Linda Campbell led
in prayer. The purpose of the
U.C.W.was repeated in unison. The
rollcall was answered by 25 ladies
and four visitors.
Ruthe Farrell read the minutes
of the May meeting..
Linda Campbell gave the
treasurers' report for Margaret
,Ferguson.
The nestmeeting will be held in
"September at the church.
