Each player on the team received a sweatshirt. (Pat Livingston photo) UNIT NO. 1 Unit No. 1 of Lucknow U.C.W. met at the home of Allene Bradley on June 11 at 2 p.m. with 14 pre- sent. Lois Walden presided with the theme of the meeting Music. She opened with the call to worship and an opening hymn, with Evelyn Cook at the piano and Jean Conley on the banjo. With each hymn sung Lois gave an interesting comment on the writer and the cir- • cumstances that prompted hixri' to compose the hymn. Jean Conley read the scripture and the Medita- tion, The Singing of a .Hymn, was given by Lois and the prayer by Jean. The roll call was answered with the name of your .favourite hymn and its writer. Dr, Isaac. Watts wrote "Jesus Shall Reign, and he states that music is" to the tnind, as air is to the body. Charles Wesley had written 6500 hymns between 17074788 , one being. "0 For a thousand tongues to sing". Lois had on display several hymn books, one beeingwritten in 1779 by Wesley. The book was in remarkable condition but the print was very small. The neat , hymn writer was Joseph &riven and the stony behind his hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was given. Evelyn Cook read an interesting article "A Polk taken of favourite hymns in 1962". The order of Favoritism was: Aiming Grace, How Great Thou Art, and In The Garden. The last I Minn writer was John Newton 1721867 "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken". Evelyn Cook and Jean Conley played "Amazing Grace". nick In a universal language and is understood by all. This part of the meeting closed with prayer. The minutes of May- meeting.p were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given . by Noma Campbell. Happy Birthday was sung for three members and the jar passed.
