Summer recreation programs are
now in place according to Recrea-
tion Director Bill Hunter. Registra-
tion in all progranis is up this year
with upwards to 100 children taking
part in the soccer program. There
is one travelling team, the Mos-
quitoes, aged nine to 12, playing in
the newly established North Huron
Soccer League. They play against
teams from Goderich, Clinton,
Blyth and Wingham. •
The other teams will play several
exhibition games. Games -are held
Thursday evenings at Lucknow
Central Public School. Softball
Ball is split into three age groups'
(6,7 and 8; 9,10, and 11; 12, 13 and
14) within the four participating
municipalities. There are 14 ball
teams - Kingsbridge, Port Albert,
Brookside, Dungannon and
Lucknow (Kinloss plays in
Lucknow). There are four travell-
ing teams; two out of Lucknow,
Midget and Bantam and two out -of
Dungannon, Midget and PeeWee.
Swimining
Registration is up this year by 10
percent with still more to come.
The full swimming schedule is in

eluded in this week's paper.
Acquaflt (aerobics) is offered
again this year with instructor
Dianne Phillips. Don't confuse this
with the ladies exercise claSs tak-
ing place at noon Monday, Wednes-
day and Friday. The cost is $25 for
eight weeks. Classes begin July 3
and run Tuesday and Thursday
evenings.
As usual adults lessons, parent
and tots, ladies exercise classes,
swim team, bronze and bronze
cross classes are offered. Please
refer to the schedule for complete
information.
You will notice that bronze class
fees appear to be SUbstantially
more than last year; however, all
costs are hicluded in the initial
registration, such as testing, in-
struction \ books and, senior
resuscitation.
Great interest was shown in hav-
ing a new class, Preschool Swimm-
ing Instruction, started this year.
Classes are for one half hour, bet-
ween 10 a.m. and noon on Satur-
days. The fee is $20 and registra-
tion is scheduled for June 23, 1 - 5
p.m. at the pool There are still
some openings available.
Instructors for the swimming
season are Julie Nitholson, fiandy
Maclntyre, Shauna Andrew and
Mary Lynn Gildwist, with Michelle
Cross as assistant instructor/life
guard.
You will notice that, some of the
rates have been adjusted upwards
slightly to offset some of the opera-
tion costs. Every effort iS made by
the recreation beard to keep these
charges as low as possible to en-
sure no is deterred from par-
-ticipating in the swimming
program.
PlaY8roimd
Debbie Nicholson will be in
charge of the playground which is
run in conjunction with the svzinun-
ing lesson times, 9 to 12, five days
a.' week. You do not have to be
enrolled in lessons take part in
the playground activities. The staff
is still looking • for materials for
arts and crafts.
Ladies ,Slopitch League
Feeling there was a need for a
ladies slopitch league in the area,
a number of residents got together
and a league was formed. There
are seven teams - PIMA Kinloss,
Neons, Dangannon Blue Angels,
Belgrave, Diggerettes and the Mitt -
fits. Some of these teams were
previouslyplaying .fasthall and
hive now joined this new slopitch
league.

calling Lucknow home diamond and
six teams calling Dungannon lane
diamond. They include Lanesville
Lords, Lucknow Kinsmen, Red
Demons, Lucknow Six Shooters,
Kinloss, Holyrood, Nile, Dungannon, '
Kintail, Loyal, Kingsbridge and
CryStalizers.
There's lots going in on the
recreation scene this summer for
Lucknow and area residents. If you
are a spectator not \ri player, drop
by any of the diamonds and enjoy
a game of soccer or ball.
Dungannon has new correspondent
Good mews! Dungannon has a
new correspondent in the person
of Sandra D'Aoust. Sandra
replaces Karen Bridges, who has
moved to LucimOw.
Sandra and he husband,
Claude and children Cherianne
and Amy have lived in Dungan
non for: 11 years and so is quite
familiar with the community.
In addition to taking on the
duties of a correspondent, Sandra
enjoys doing volunteer school
work, sewing, knitting, cooking,
and bolding.

system slated for
this summer,

Some important points to con-
sider in determining your service

-Lake Wawanosh, Conservation
Area, located in West Wawanosh
Township, has suffered repeated
vandalism problems this year.
The latest incident at the 200 acre
day use area occurred on June 13
when over Ma people used the site
for a field party leaving behind
broken glass and damaged fences.
Earlier in the year a washroom
at the site was burned, resulting,
hi $4,000 damage, and a steel gate
was broken down. .
"This year there have been five
or perhaps six field parties held
at the site," said Dave Grurnmett,
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority, Director of Operations.
"The extra maintenance and
damage to the property that is oc-
curritg is becoming a great con-
cern.
The cost of mahitairring conser-
vation areas is borne by local
municipalities.
Authority staff will be working
with the OPP to closely monitor
the area in the future. Conserva-
tion area regulations prohibit the
lighthlg of fires, damaging proper-
ty and drinking alcoholic
beverages on the site. Charges
will be laid under the Authority
regulations when. necessary..
Residents present petition
to Village Council
Lucknow village council met for
their regular session on June 12,
at which time the bylaw enforce-
ment officer, Jack Crozier was
also in attendance.
• Various accounts were passed
for payment with the arena
capital cod Wile being withheld
until the Kinsmen money comes
in.
„Harold Humphrey and David
MacDonald waited on council.
They referred to a petition cir-
culating regarding a fence at the
corner of Havelock and Campbell
Streets. The petition had well over
200 names singed. Following the
discussion, the gentlemen left the
meeting. Mr. Crozier advised he
would investigate further regar-
ding clarification of terminology
used in the bylaws.
A request for a used car dealer-
ship in an M1 Zane was referred
to Bruce County Plannhig.
'Bylaw 7, 1990 being an En-
croachment bylaw was given
three readings and passed.
Bylaw 11, 190 being an amend-
ment to. bylaw 3 1981, Landfill,
wasgiven three readings and
passed.
Bylaw, 91 1990 being a land pur-
chase bylaw, was given- three
readhigs and passed. This bylaw
pertained to a small portion of
property donated to the village by
Mary MacGillivray and Dorothy
Brown, which is adjacent to the
park on Campbell Street east.
Maitland Valley had cleaned up
the area and the bylaw allows the
purchase of the property for the
sum of $1.00.
It was agreed to deduct the cost
of hydro, supplied by Mrs. Rider,
from the HMIs invoice (standpipe
repair) and to reimburse her for
same.
A correction was made to Zon-
ing bylaw 1 - 1906, on the former
Dorothy Finlayson property, lot
420, plan 97, according to the 1977
Subdivision Agreement. The cor-
rection should be from Institu-
tional to Residential.
Council voted in favour of ap-
plying for a zone change from
h.C1 to h.R3 for Non -Profit Hous-
ing Unit on lots 275276-343-344345
and 277.
Council agreed to install a rail -
frig for the steps leading from the
Community Centre to the ball
diamond.
