Town and Country Bowling
The Town and Country Bowling league,
wrapped up their season with: a banquet'
in the• Anglican Church' parish hall with
53 members and nine guests present.,
President Joan Robinson welcomed all.
Following dinner a short ' business
meeting was held.
The present officers agreed to stay on
for another season: Joan Robinson, presi-
dent; Jean Phillips, vice and Gerda de -
_Jong, secretary -treasurer.
Awards for the season went to:
Season's champs Mable Whitby's Tulips;
ladies high average, Kay Crawford with
178; men's high average, Harry Levis
with 158; ladies high double, Agnes Far-
rier 422; men's high double, Gordon
Johnstone with 424;, ladies high Single,
Jean Phillips, 261; men's high single,
Lloyd McDougall 290; ladies high double -
with handicap, Isabel Miller 516; men's
high double with handicap, Art 'Ernewein
522; ladies high single with handicap, -
Stella Tilbrook 305; Men's high shigie
with handicap Clifi.Menary 309; Most im-
proved bowlers Alice Taylor with- 29
pointsand Pharis Mothers with 17 points.
Playoff awards went to; winning team
Ruth Conley's Hyacinths; high double
Fern McDonald 483'and Jake Conley 387;
high singles Anna MnDOullall 261 and
Harold Campbell 260. -
Congratulations to all winners and
here's to next season in the alleys.
A few draws were made for Some
plants and after a game of euchre the
evening came to an end.
Numerous visitors in Lochalsh
Rhetta and Marion MacLennan had a
number of their family visiting with them
during the weekend. They were Louise
Miller of Palmerston, Dr. Virginia
MacLennan, her husband Al Hutton and
three children of Trenton, Colin MacLen-
nan of Markham, Jack MacLennan of
Stratford and John and Jackie MacLen-
nan of London.
Barbara Wilkins of Paris visited on the
weekend with her parents and brother
Charlie, Mayne and Ken Wilkins.
Kae, James and Cecil Webster, spent
the weekend in Richfield, Ohio with
Atlee, Jean and Tricia Wise. It was a
very nice weekend. They were approx-
imately two hours getting over the bridge
and through customs.
William and Shirley Irvin and family of
Brookside visited with Gordon and Nora
Robb on Sunday.
Dining the weekend Dorothy Finlayson
had a number of her family visiting with

Finlayson, her husband, John Balch and.
boys of London, Allan Finlayson of
Toronto, Judy Finlayson, son John and a
friend of Teeswater and Ken Finlayson of ,
Toronto.
On Saturday, Barry and Betty Jones
attended a wedding in Thorndale for
Janet O'Neil and Philip Wallace. On Sun-
day, Barry and Betty visited with a
number of their friends and also with
their families.
Mrs. Ross Calvert of Sarnia visited on
the weekend with her sister and brother-
in-law Ewen and Marg MacLean.
Douglas Alexander MacDonald
Douglas A. MacDonald of the 8th con-
cession of Huron Township passed away
May 15, 1990. Mr. MacDonald was born
on December 14, 1926.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, the
former Eileen Elliott; a daughter, Patty
of London; one sister, Margaret Hutchin-
son of Amherstburg and two brothers,
Donald of Edmonton, Alberta and Robert
of Chatham, New Brunswick.
Mr. MacDonald was a member of the
Northern Light Lodge 98. The Masonic
Lodge of Kincardine held a service
Thursday night.
Mr. MacDonald was an active member
of the Ripley Huron Branch 400 of the
Royal Canadian Legion.
Visitation was at the MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley, from
where the funeral service was conducted
on May 18, by the Rev. Glen
Macpherson.
Pallbearers were Rod MacDonald, Dan
MacDonald, Jack Scott, Donald
IBITUAIIIES
McTavish, Scott Reigier and Tom
Culbert.
Flower bearers were Burton Griffith,
Grant MacDonald, Allan Irwin, Doug
Martyn, Don Paquette and Gary
Henderson.
Interment Ripley Cemetery.
Violet Lonnsbury
Violet Lounsbury passed away May 14,
1990 in the Penetanguishene Hospital in
her 86th year. She was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Austin and
sister of the late Harold Austin.
The funeral was in Penetanguishene on
Wednesday, May 16, with interment in
South Kinloss Cemetery.
