Education is very important to have
because without one you would not be
able to live in today's society.. Having the
knowledge and ability 'are the two key
'Obits. towards being successful and get-
ting
etting a decent job. If you were in the
situation of having bills to pay and a
family to support, then a good education
which leads to a good paying job would
definitely come in handy.
I can hardly believe it, just nine short
years ago I began school. My
kindergarten teacher's name was Mrs.
Maclntyre. The first day of school I went
knowing little about reading and writing
and arithmetic. I can hardly believe all
of the things I've learned and have ac-
complished since then. I've learned so
much between Kinloss Central and here
at Lucknow. They're such great schools!
I can remember in kindergarten how
Mrs. Maclntyre had a chair called the
HOT SEAT. It was a chair to remind you
to behave. ,You learned from your
mistake and tried not to repeat them.
For if you did, than you were back up on
that chair as quick as you could snap
your fingers.
In primary and junior grades I went to
Kinloss Central School. I spent four of
my school years there until the decision
had been made that all of the pupils
from Kinloss would go to a school called
Lucknow Central.
We were all informed that the school
was closing for economic reasons. I have
learned that Lucknow is ;full of many

This past year our school has had the
privilege to have 4 talented ladies come
and show unit how to play 3 different
shaped and sized clarinets. hie Eb

man sized medium sound and the bas
much larger, bass sound (very low). It
seemed original to have just clarinets
playing alone because usually they are
" accompanied by other its. We
all learned something new. The music
was very , entertaining and kept us
spellbound.
great opportunities such as learning how
to play a musical instrument or joining
the band. Mr. Cayley is the band leader
of the Lucknow band and an instrumen-
tal teacher. '
I am dedicated to the band along 'with
all of the other band members. Every
Tuesday night we go to Lucknow School
for a band practice for one and a half
hours. Can you believe the band practices
for approximately 120 hours in a whole
school year? This does not include play-
ing at the Remembrance Day Service or
at all the paradeswe play in. The band's
great, it sure is worth all the time and
effort. •
Some other opportunities that :Lucknow
has provided. for us are the chances to .
take part in sports such as volleyball and
basketball and compete •against other
schools towards winning 'a school banner.
All of the banners . that 'are displayed
around the gymnasium show off all our
hard -teamwork and effort put together•
towards winning them. •
I am now in ggrade eight. These past
years of my school days have been great.
This is my last year of public school. I
can look back at all of the memories that
have gone by. I can remember the time
of our Outdoor Education trip and now. I
am looking forward to tine future Ottawa
trip thatis coming up 'in June.
While visiting Ottawa I will be able to
see may different sites, • such as the.
parliament buildings, or maybe even
parliament in session, and also the city
of Ottawa.
Public School was the first big step,
but next year will be an even bigger step
in life and now as I go to high school, I
will be facing many :new , challenges,.
some easy and others difficult. As you
know, education will help youto be suc-
cessful for the rest of your life and it will
never end.
