I'd like to thank Mrs. Bell, the newspaper club, and Pat Livingston's Sentinel crew for making this edition possible. Without their help, this would still be just a dream. The perpetual sup- port of our local businesses also. is very important; and for the chance of allow- ing llowing us to yet again draw their ads, I am sincerely grateful!. Each year, I'm pleased to pause and reflect on the happenings of our last year. The paths that cross as three hun- dred people spend hours pursuing that elusive dream called education are numerous. This year's theme "Education: It's everybody's business" is extremely hn portant to me. Someone once said that "education is learning to live, not just earning a living." Honesty, respect, courtesy, fair play, and responsibility are all traits and characteristics that are essential to good healthful living. These Newspaper Club traits aren't taught at school, but rather brought to school from families who reflect society's goals and. morals. Educa- tion is everybody's business! We, at L.C.P.S. do our best tonurture support and expand upon the bases already.. presented. If parents and school can ,in still in our students the desire to follow these principles, die will have progressed a long way in educating them. What you have before you is a microcosm of our year. As you enjoy our stories and reports, I hope that you have fond memories of your elementary years. We hope you enjoy sharing our memories with us. Congratulations to all on a job well done! Principal Kasen 'Crimmings Educati. .Week April 29- OnbehaiffTheBrucecountyBoard of Education, I am pleased to bring greetings to the citizens of Lucknow and the `surrounding townships during this very special celebration across Ontario known as Education Week. My congratulations are extended to Mr. Pike . and those teachers and students whose' efforts on these pages ex- emplify aemplifry our number one goal in Bruce County public schools - excellence in the basic ,nine R's of education: reading, writing , and arithmetic and the very crucial values of and responsibili- ty. The . four R's the environment -. reuse, reduce, recycle and recover are. rapidly becoming a part of our `busy cur- riculum of the 1990's. I am pleased to extend a special invita- tion o any member of the community to visit our schools during Education Week. Come end see the multitude of cur- riculum urriculum' experiences available to students - opportunities' which • give new meaning to the dream of an equal education which is second to no other area in the Pro- vince for all students in Bruce County. Sincerely, Paul A. Martindale Director of Education by Heather Askes This year's school newspaper club is made up of 12 girls and 2 organizers, Mrs. Bell and Mr. Pike. These energetic people have taken time out of their schedule to create this newspaper filled with advertisements, pictures, and many stories, poems etc. created by the students of L.C.P.S. Many businesses around town have allowed the students to create ads which they then choose the best to go into the paper. The newspapers job was to tell these businesses about the paper and ask them if they would like an ad. This year was another success. Stories are put in the paper to show their accomplishments throughout the year. Members of the newspaper club are: Katrina Abbott, Heather Askes, Amy Austin, Julie Carter, Angela Cranston, Lisa Gollan, Tina Jewson, Abby Lynn Knorr, Jackie Mur- ray, urray, Kristen O'Neil, Dawne Rhody and Kelly Stevenson. We have also written stories of guests and clubs of the past year. We hope you enjoy the L.C.P.S. paper.
