The decision was reached at a meeting held in Hanover on Friday, April 30th, attended by a large represen- tation of the newspaper men of both counties. After considering the subject carefully and comparing costs all round, it was seen that the step must be taken. Subscribers will be given the opportuni- ty of renewing at the old rate for the year 1920, if paid by the end of June. Sentinel readers are requested to take notice of this change and govern themselves accordingly. 50 Years Ago - May 2, 1940 LATE SKATING - By way of establishing "one for the book" Bud Thompson and Toby Greer donned the , skates last Thursday morning, April 25 and had a few whirls around the arena, to set a record for late skating, and on a sheet of ice that was surpriisin good they stated. Several inches of was built up during the winter and had been slow going out up to that date: One could skate anywhere in the arena but it was necessary to be careful to stay on their skates for, while the ice was hard, ft was also . wet. CLANSMEN PLAN FOR JAMBOREE - The Clansmen's 24th of May Jamboree will be marked by the official opening of . the newarena sound system, ,being install by The Cluub 'and which is expected will e be installed by that date for its first test of public approval. The Clansmen have engaged a troupe of performers from the Garden Bros. APRIL WEATHER - The last day of April, the 30th, gave us the highest edpe�ature of the month when it climb- fo 64 degrees. The low was on April 3rd when the' mercury cut 2 degrees above. Rainfall for the month was 2.07 inches, snowfall was 5 inches with the heaviest snow coming on April 17th when 2.8 in- ches fell. - - 10' Years Ago - May 7, 1980 SCHOOL. BUSSES STOLEN - Two • school busses belonging to Gordon T. Montgomery Ltd. were stolen from the parking lot at Montgomery Motors sometime: Friday evening, May 2. The 'Goderich detachment of -fine On- tario Provincial Police reported finding an abandoned school bus on concession 12 or Ashfield Township about 12:15 midnight. Goderich OPP later reported finding a second bus, which had been destroyed by fire, on West Wawanosh sideroad off the sixth concession, around 9:15 Saturday morning. •
