CQapers celebrate their 5Oth wedding anniversary
Fifty. years ago yesterday (April 10),
under bright, beautiful skies, Rev. McSit
chie solemnized the marriage of Stanley
and Laverne Cooper at the Rectory in
Bervie. While the weather. was
cooperative for this special ' day, the "
Coopers recalled that Laverne had to be
brought part way from her home, in
Kingarf, by horse and cutter, due to the
hard -packed snow on her road. When she
arrived at Cooper's corner a car awaited
to take her the rest: of the way to the '
rectory.
Mrs. Cooper was originally from the
Formosa area, but settled in Kingarf with
her first husband, who ° died at a young
age: She recalled how at that time she
had •a six month old son and she was ex-
pecting another child. She sends a warm
look at Mr. Coo er wand said, "I "met
• Stanley alter a e, and eventually we
married.''"
