Bridge Crossing Of The Nine ``Mile River
At Port Albert
The Township of Ashfield is investigating alternatives concerning the need.
to reconstruct or replace the bridgecrossingathe. Nine Mile River at Port Albert.
The project is bemg undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the
Environmental Assessment Act and will follow theplanning process of the Class
Environmental Assessment for Municipal Road Projects.

either at the time of the Public Information Centre or directly to the address

Further notification will be given when the final scale of thero ect is: deter=
mined. If required by the Class EA procedures an Environmental Study Report,
dESR) would be completed and made available at the unicipal Offices for 30
ays for' public review. At that time, any person/party may requestthat the
Minister of the Environment "bump -up' this project to an individual en-
vironmental assessment. If there were no objections to the ESR, the project
would then proceed.

Mr. and Mrs. William Pardon hosted
the March 13 card party. with 16 present.

Presbyterian Church will start on April 1
at 10 a.m. All interested children are

Whitechurch Water. System
The annual meeting of the Whitechurch
Water.. System was held on Marcb;10 in
theconunun ty hall, with 10 present. The
minutes of last year's meeting were read
and the financial statement given•show
• ing total assets of $4,980.14.
Angus .Falconer gave the maintenance
-report. One pipe needs to be dug up and
some valves . cut into the pavement, so
some sections can be shut 'off, 'without
everyone being affected.
The annual fee remains the same at
• $80 per household. •
The secretary and treasurer will
receive $100 each. Maintenance men will
receive $500 a year, plus $10 per hour for.
any additional work; water sample col-
lector $125 per ` year and mileage for
water business at .20 km. The president
will. receive $50 per year.

held their March meeting: on the 21 with
dessert served by Kathleen Elliott at her
home.
• Norma Rintoul and Helen Rintoul were
the leaders. The call to worship was a
poem, Reliveth, givenby Norma Rintoul.
Vera Falconer read two poems on March.
The . scripture reading was given by
Norma from ` Mark 14:10-26 and the
meditation followed with a paper called,
A Time to Remember God's Love and
,Know and Enjoy Christ, followed with ,
prayer. .•

The Lenten Intention.
Norma gave the topic suggestions for a
great decade. Eight answered the rollcall
with a verse containing the word spring.
A WMS Sunday will be held May 6
with Mrs. Don Robertson as speaker.
The April meeting will be a week later
on the 25th at the home of Vera
Falconer. Mrs. Falconer reported on the
shut-in visiting for • march. Visitors for
April are Norma Rantoul and Agnes
,Gaunt.
The offered was received, followed by
a hymn ,and the meeting closed with
prayer. A Ladies Aid meeting followed
with no business being broughtup for
:discussion.

Institute enjoyed the St. Patrick's evening
in Ripley sponsored by the Ripley
Women's Institute. .
Everyone attending the card party at the
Purple Grove Centre on Friday evening
had a good time. The winners were Marion
Emerson, Marilyn Reid, Megan Mac-
Donald, Douglas Forster, Glen Haldenby
and Cecil Sutton. Thanks to John and ..
Joyce Farrell and family for organizing

Visitors with Mary Anne Kukoly at the
trailer were Julie Jessop, Bonnie Mercer,
Genevieve Price, Sophie and Luke, Joe and
Gaye Harnick and Peggy Porter of Kincar-
dine and the 4H Bready Bunch. Everyone
enjoyed seeing the little lambs, a sure sign
of. spring.
Sarah and Patrick Farrell visited on. the
weekend with the Jim Farrell children.
The St. Andrews United Church Sunday
School sponsored a shared meal on Sun-
day. The proceeds are to go to the World
Foods Grain Sank.
Congratulations to the rink skipped by
Teresa Farrell in the Ripley Junior Curl-
ing bonspiel. This winning groups also hi -
eluded Heather Farrell, Darren Funston
and Peter MacDonald.
