Much of our.furniture was donated `
when we opened in 1905 and is now show-
ing severe signs of wear. We are in need
of sofas and easy chairs and office desks.

Some other major items of need are a

mattresses . with :plasticized covers, and
somecribs which meet current safety
standards. A dehumidifier for our base-
ment area would be 'welcome.

St. Helen's .
A shoot party was held at St. Helen's
Women's Institute hall on March 10. Nine
table . were in play with- prizes: going to
high lady, Jean Phillips; second high,
Irene Markham; high man, Jim Err-
ington; second high,. Stewart Chamney;
Most shoots, Freda Dankwart; lucky cup,
Bruce Raynard; birthday nearest to St.
Patrick's Day, Margaret Errington. Next
party is April 9.
Drop -In Centre
There were eight tables of shoot and
four tables of bridge at the Drop -In Cen-
tre last week. Shoot winners were high
lady, Muriel Moffat; high man, Jake Con-
. ley; low lady, Ruth Conley; low man,
Harold Campbell; most shoots, Grace
Gibson. Bridge winners were Jean Whit-
by, high and Wilbur Brown, low. Pot luck
dinner is being held March 29. •
Junior Farmers
The West Huron Junior Farmers spon-
sored a euchre card party at Brookside
Public School on March 12 with nine
tables in play. High lady was Lois Alton,
high man, Don Cameron; low lady, Kim
Ferguson; low man, Jim Nivins. Door
prizes went to Norma Baynard and Karl
Morrison.
Twelve junior farmers enjoyed bowling
in Goderich last Sunday evening. , ,;
March is junior farmers membership
month and anyone interested in joining is

tended the Annual Meeting and Con-
ference of Farm Safety Association Inc.

The delegates learned there was an in-
crease of 20% in the number of fatalities
occurring on Ontario Farms last year
over 1: One of these occurred in Huron
County.

In January 1990, the Employer ,Health Tax (EHT) replaced OHth'
premium payments as 'a method of contributing towards the cost `'
of health care in Ontario.
Liability for the tax began in January. All employers with permanent
establishments in Ontario are required to pay the EHT on a << .
monthly or quarterly basis, depending on gross salaries and
wages paid to employees.
•
Employers who are on a quarterly remittance schedule are
required to make-` their' first payment no later,than April 15,
1990.
Any employers who have not yet received information or remit-
tance statement materials from the Ministry should call any of
the following numbers to avoid incurring penalties and interest
for tax payments due:'
