Kinloss woman off to Gerrnany
A local JIIriq Fanner has been selected
to represent Canada in may.
Debbie Stanley, of Kudos found out

for the Junior Farmers of Ontario in +her

Debbie says the competition is open to
any Junior Farmer. She will have to pay
one third of her flight costs and, supply her

DebNe was brought up in Kinloss on a
beef farm and is .the daughter of Millie

Ashfield township reports on council business•
At the March 6 meeting of Ashfield
Township council bylaw 9, 1990, being a
bylaw to change the zoning on part of lot
3,front concession from Natural Environ-
ment (NEl-1) to Natural Environment
(NEI 13) to permit one cottage and two
accessory guest cabins, was given three
readings and passed on a motion of
Simpson and Cairncross,

Council voted in favour of making ap-
plication under the Summer Employment
Program, for funding towards `hiring a
summer student, and that pending ap-
proval of the application, a student be
hired for casual labour at a rate of $7 •
per hour_
Special Meeting
At a special meeting of . Ashfield
Township council on March 15, it was
moved by councillors Cairncross and
Black, that council pay one half of the
cost of paving a section of the Col-
borne/Ashfield
olborne/Ashfield boundary from the Nile
West, for an estimated Ashfield share of
$12,000.
The 1990 fire budget was approved on
a motion of Andrew and Cairncross.
-Council accepted the price of Carter's
Waste. Disposal of $12 per week per bin
for 26 weeks, for garbage collection along
the lakefront. This price is for two
pickups per week. •
The 1990 road budget was discussed in`
depth during this meeting:

Carl Courtney was present to inquire :if
load limit restriction signs would be plac
ed on the bridges on sideroad 3, concis-
cion 5, or if there were any plans to
repair the bridges. The 'road superinten-
dent was directed to obtain further infor-
mation from the MTO and the township
solicitor.
Approval was given by council for the
sale of raffle tickets by •the foundation for
Ileitis and Colitis •within the township.
An Ontario Home Renewal Program
preliminary loan application was approv-
ed for Brigitte' Wolf.'
Couneil voted in favour •of paying $60
per day for five days expenses incurred
by the newly hired drainage inspector,
while attending the Drainage Superinten-
dent's Course in Waterloo. At : the
February 20 meeting, John Maize was
hired as part time drainage and building
inspector. Eight applications had' been
received. • .
Marion Zinn was nominated to sit on
the Wingham and District Hospital, Board
of Directors for the years 1990-92.
The tender of Joe Kerr Ltd. for the
crushing,loading, hauling and spreading
- of : "A" '.gravel at a price of 83.21/yd
spread and. 81.70/yd . stockpile was ac-
• cepted..
Wages
Wages for township employees were
approved at the January 30th meeting as
follows: Road Superintendent 40,400 per
year; Clerk Treasurer 830,000per year
plus mileage when on township business•
Clerk's Assistant . $10.25 per hour;
operators, $10.50 to $12.60 per hour.
