The Whitechurch United 'Church
Women held their March 7 meeting at
the home of Evelyn Gibb. The topic was
the church in society. The leaders were
Alice Moore and Mildred McClenaghan,
who gave the call to worship with a
reading from the Heritage book.
Paul Whitendorf from the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority was the
guest speaker and showed slides on he
Maitland Valley. Alice More extended ap-
preciation to Mr. Whitendorf.
Mrs. Moore read there scripture from
John 4:34-38, and read from the Observer
an article on how we can help the, en-
vironment.
Mildred McClenaghan told the ladies
about the food bank the United Church in
Lucknow are keeping. Mice and Mildred
gave a recipe for a scripture cake.
Gertrude Durnin took over the business
ported. Mary Chapman read the minutes
and Mrs. Gibb gave the financial report.
Rollcall was answered by 11 with a
verse containing the " word commit.
Mrs. Durnin closed with prayer and a
birthday tea followed.

Meeting two was held on February 13
with all members present. The meeting
opened with the pledge and rollcall was
answered.

test tasted four loaves of bread made by •
Kathleen Elliott prior to the meeting.

The name' Whitechurch Breadsticks was
chosen for the club. •
Meeting three on March 13 was held at
the Elliott home. Three members were
absent. •
Following the pledge, ' members made
bread pizza, brown batter rolls, English
muffins 'in a roll and refrigerator cres-
cent rolls.'.Taste testing followed. Discus-
sion followed on different: breads and how
you could dress them up.:
Rolleall was answered and different
ways to . wrap were learned. Members
then voted on . bookcovers. The next
meeting is March 27.
Institute Meeting
The Public •'Relations meeting of the •
Whitechurch Institute was held on March
14 at the home of Merle Wilson in
Wingham. The opening ode and Mary
Stewart Collect opened the meeting.
President Marjorie Wall read a poem,
Seeds of Goodness. Norma Rintoul was
appointed secretary in the absence of the.
regular one.
A euchre party is planned for April 30
at 1:30 in the hall and a cleaning bee to
clean the hall on April ;9 at 9:30 a.m.
The motto, Time Flies, but, remember
you are the navigator, was given. by Jean
Ross, who said that timedoes fly and if •
as navigators we do not use it to be the
best of ability, we are " the losers. We
should take time to do things for others
es• well as ourselves. We all have to •
navigateour own lives, as we are only
living once, and we will never miss the

Mrs. Ross introduced the . guest
speaker, Lisa Fraser, Feature Develop-
ment Co-ordinator for CKNX TV adver-
tising. She explained how thatthere are
three types of advertising: national,
regional and retail and showed a video
on how someof these things are put
together. She gave a very interesting
commentary on her work at the station.
Jean Tiffinextended appreciation to Mrs.
Fraser.

and a recent picture, was answered by 18
ladies. These will be put into the
Tweedsmuir History Book. The commit-
tee of Evelyn Gibb, Gertrude Dumin and
Catherine Wilson served lunch. Jean Ross
was the convener of the meeting.

Junior Agriculturalist
program set to go again
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture &
Food is once again providing job oppor-
tunities for young people as well as sum-
mer help for farmers through the Junior
Agriculturalist program.
This program provides an opportunity
for students between the ages of 15-24,
with no farm experience, to work on a
farm for eight weeks, Students receive
535/day with every second weekend off.
Host farmers are asked to .provide
room and board, contribute $l7/day to
the Junior Agriculturalist training fund.
