Toronto, London and Hamilton Con- ferences have all said that while they support the idea of paying taxes in order to pay for asocialthey are in favour of reforming the system eo that it is fair and more just. The three Conferment, which acted through ��dvedtheir congregationspresbyteries to call on the government to sleek alter- natives to the GST. Hamilton Conference passed a motion oppoeing the Goods and Services Tax March 15 in a meeting of the Executive at Carlisle, Ontario. The Conferences say the GST is a regressive form of taxation that does not consider people's ability to pay and therefore hurts middle and lower income pole harder than higher Income people. They also say that any reform of the tax system in Canada should place a • greater share of the tax load on • corpora ons;.
