Whet is a Mtaiatur+e Horse
The Miniature Horse isan elegant scsi-
ed., down version of the standard sized
horse. Miniatures cannot exceed 34" at
the withers (the last hair on the mane)
when mature. Foals .usually range in
height between 15" and 22" at' birth' and,
as a rule of thumb,: will increase 10" to
12" at maturity
Generally, miniatures are divided into
three types: the more refined Arabian,
the heavier boned quarter horse, or the •
heavy draft. Because they 'have been
bred down from; many tYPes of horses,.
they reproduce in all equ .:e colours' in-
cluding pinto and appaloosa.
Characteristically,, miniature have gen-
tle andplayful dispositions: and respond
more like a friendly dog than a horse.
They. are ideal for young children and
older adults who are unable to handle a
full sized horse, as well as for horse
vers .in general .who want to enjoy the
beauty of a horse without the bother of
a full sized animal.
Miniatures are often kept as mascots
for sporting or business organizations.,
