There are a lot of words we can read and now we are lear- ning to sound words out. We took our report cards 11010e last week. Mrs. Luh was very proud Of our good work. Angie is our only March birthday. Everyone including Mrs. Lash will be glad when we won't need all our winter clothing. • Grade 1 This Was "Vowel V week" in _wade one, as we worked with all the different sounds it makes in words. We have been telling and dramatising fairytales, and now are beginning our Creative centres using our imaginations. On Thursday and Friday we talked about St. Patrick and made delicious Potato soup and played Irish games Catch the Leprechaun," and "Find the Gold." Keith and Thom have been the March Special. Me's." Grade We welcome Chris Tabor to our class and we hope he will enjoy Lucknow Centrid. • The Grade one and two's have enjoyed the St. Patrick Day Centres. We would like to thank Mrs. Maclntyre for belping us with our research activities about Ireland. __ • Angela Harlin and Jessica Hare are our Super Star helpers this week. Grade 2/3 We welcomed Amey back from Florida on Wednesday, and enjoyed the Mickey and Mbmie Mouse she brought to show us, also the many pictures she shared with us. Thank -you Amy: • On Friday morning we had a skating party at the arena and then the March Break started. Grade 3/4 We are now "Reading with the Super Sleuths' Mrs. McIntyre found many good mystery b0Oha te0E us and it is fun reading them. After reading a mystury we can then pick a "Super " reading card to work on. Many of us are writing our own Mystery stories. Grade 4/8 The newly formed hiking club has been enjoying the fresh air and sunny after. mons on Wedneeday and Friday. They have looked at the heritage of Lucknow, done a tour on snowshoes, followed an explorer's trail along the river and learn- ed how to identify different trees and Weeds. Grade 4/5 in looking forward to their spring break after a busy 2nd term! They are now familiar with many aspects of the solar system and have finished off a math unit of division. • Grade 5/1 We are learning about shape's in math, and in Environmental Studies we are learning about dhmsaurs. One of our classmate's is moving to B.C. Also a new student is coming in our claps. Gradel/7 The grade six's have designed plans for buildings on logo on the coininilein. They are also having a French Test on Friday, We are also working- hard on .our Science projects. • - • Grade //8 As of Wednesday, the Grade WO class will have finished their Weaving in Art. In Science, we are busily working on our Science Fair projects. They consist of experiments in electricity and heat. She was successful at our local legion apealdng contest and went on to represent the Lueknow Legion branch at the reidsmal finale in Clinton Coagratula- tions for a job well done. EraUes The SpecialecialEducation class was pleas- ed with the report cards. They are glad to have a new student named Shaun. They are still busy finishing work units and are ready for the holidays. Family Studies Lately the grade seven's have been making pin cushions. Grade six's have immomminimmamemmil 11•CPS INSIDER been studying nutrition. The grade eight's are studying feint, budgeting. Library The scientists are busy exploring en- cyclopedias and science books for their PreJeete. Monster $ made by some of the Grade 2/3 III I are a follow up after enjoying some Monster books. The other haff of the class did an author study of • Arnold Lobel's books and are making •frog PuPPets• Grade one students started research OA Pigs, wolves and bears. Friends of the library meet. The "Friends of the Library" group met at the Ripley branch on Mar. O. The group meets regularly on the first- Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The group would welcome new patrons hderested in books, reading and helping the librarian promote the new library. * Ubriuian Judy reports that Amnesty Walt and the used book sale were a great success. Books on tole pabiting • can also be found with the display. The Ripley branch is hosting the Southwest Area Library Adeisory Council meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 28. Lynne • Landry and Elmer Smeltzer will represent Ripley. Also invovled in the council is Tiverton, Kincardine and lamknow. These meetings provide a link, between the libraries, Bruce County Library board and the various town and township councils.
