We would like to offer a sincere thank
you to the Huron Heart .Skipping Team
who came to our school last week to
demonstrate for the whole school and
teach our senior club a "trick or
two." Last week was a busy one because
we also held our snow day which was
delayed from earlier. Our thanks •go to
our grade eight pupils who helped
organize games, particularly Tanya
Macinnis, Kern Snowden, and ,Dianne
Ross (Say "aw" for Dianne.), As well, we
all owe a thank you to the grade seven
students who helped us by acting as cap-
tains of the 39 teams we had.
March Break is March 10 through
March 18; Please remember our pupils
are on vacation and tray. very well be
"out and about". Please help them play
safely. Have, a good break!
Miss Watt, Grade 1
Yes we love money. We can even count
money. Some of us are excited to spend
real money at thestore look out! 10
We have begun bears.as'our next unit.
We are looking forward to the bear cen-
tres. We plan on wearing green on St.
Patricks day, ' even' though it will be a
holiday. •
Miss Mathers, Grade 1/2
Grade 1/2 is looking forward°to joining
forces with Mrs. Scott's, Grade 2 to work
through 10 St. Patrick's Day centres. It
will be topped off with• a "Wear-
ing/Tasting of the Green" on March 8th.
We are certainly proud of everyone's
snowmen creations, but special mention.

Our class, is very proud of Jordan An-
drew who represented the school at the
local Royal Canadian Legion public
speaking competition. We wish him well
as he competes�ynext at the district level

Some leprechauns have emerged and
are discretely hidden but are watching
us.
Since we all have a love of food, we
have been readingstories that have food
as an important part. Soon we will get
the chance to eat a "special" food.
Mr. Culp, Grade 4/5
The 4/5 class has been studying about
the environment and learning new words
like reusing, recycling, etc. and we are
using these words to make a. recycling
game.
In math grade 4's have been doing
division for quite awhile now. Grade 5's
have been doing volume. In Language
Arts grade 4's are doing Mysteries. We
are also practising skits that will tell
other classes we can help protect our
environment.
Mrs. Worsen, Grade 5
Mrs. Worsell's class has started a unit ,
on Farming in Ontario. Fortunately we
have lots of farming expertise within our
classroom!
In Math we are working on . Metric
Measurement and also we're still review-
ing division facts. Keep practicing, Grade
Five!
Miss Rennie Grade 5/6
In art we are starting our good copy in
stitching pictures. On Friday 16th we saw
ther,James and the Giant Peach presen-
tation. .We have been comparing the book
and the play and writing a new introduc-
tion. We all are working on our science
projects with Mrs. Graham. In P.H. we
are playing basketball. Congratulations to
Adella Andrew for representing Brookside
at the Lucknow Legion. Adella's speech
on "Music" placed second in. her
category.
Mr. Cober, Grade 6
Room 12 is experimenting with
magnets. We brought magnets from
home along with a variety of other ob-
jects such as wire, nails, batteries, tinfoll,
etc. We have nine fun activities to try
that will help us learn about magnets.
Carrie Merriam was the lucky winner
of our snowman drawing contest. Simone
Bleeker was a second prize winner= for
the Rural Voice drawing contest.-
Before
ontest.-Before Winter Break, Mr. Cobet is go-
ing to test our mathematical skill.

We had fun hen we went aiding on
February ghat. We bad a P.D. Day, on
Friday so we had a three day weekend.
On Tuesday we had a math teat and now
we are waiting on insuanvment. We are
working on our science fair projects, and
in Geography we are alzrCanada.
Mrs. Graham, Grade 7/8
This week we had "Skip for Heart"
people and taught us some moves. This
Friday we are having Snowday. In art
we are stuffing pantyhose. And trying to
makeof it (soft sculpture).
Next week. Patrick's day we are
having a dance. Next Friday we are get-
ting out of school an hour early.
Mr, Handitt, Grade 8
This week in home ee we made cookies
and put faces on them so we could ,pre-
tend that- they were children. We've
finished our second major essay now.
This one covered the Confederation
Period. They were great! Congratulations
to Dianne Ross and Mari -Clair a Watkins.

Special Features
Last Friday our school had a snowday. •
We had different winter • games such as
captain dressup, dodgeball and board
shuffle. It ran all' afternoon. Grade 8's
ran the games and grade 7's were team.

has spent most of this week working with
a drama group, fromfive area schoolsf
alongg: with. Mrs, Morrow and Mrs.
Ringvette. Caley. Moore, Steven Cere,
Danny Wylds, Erin Meader, and Lisa Os-
inga took to the boards from Brookside.'
Many thanks to the Library Club for ac-
tingas monitors;. they kept the Library
open and running smoothly during the
workshop! It's nice to have Mrs. D'aoust
back - with a wonderful batch of informa
tion for our files- and a great tan!

Tip of the week: Before sewing through
a heavy fabric such as, denim, or through
several thicknesses of fabric, rub , the
wrong sides with soap. The needle will

Kairsbea Breadventure
The March 3 Meeting of Kairshea
Breadventure was held at the del3oer
residence, opening with the 4-1f .pledge.
Thi ,minutes of the last meeting were
read and rollcall taken.
Members of the group made pizza, ;ap-
ple face muffins and english loaf.
