United Murat, Seaforth, rVeentlY, Sia' the
annual meeting of flurou}Perth
Presbyterial U.C.W. One of the highlights
was the report by Mildred McAdam of
Clinton on Stewardship. She phasized
the fact that our stewardship o f the
and its resources: is. becoming 'more
Critical every day, and made many Sug-
gestions to the women about ways of.von-
serving energy, using alternatives, and
recycling materials. As shereminded:
them, "the problems in the : Garden of
Eden were not caused by the apple on
the tree; but by the pair on the ground."
The theme for the day was "Bridges
We Build," and a rainbow► was used to
symbolize the bridge between God and
man, and also the many bridges between
man and the world.. Those presenting
reports wore hats and carried balloons of
the various rainbow colours.
Delegates were welcomed by coffee and
muffins prepared by the women of Nor-
thside U.C.W. and by an enthusiastic
sing -song conducted by Barbara Mn
Parker of Varna, with Pearl Martin at
the piano. The Presbyterial president,
Helen Anderson, officially opened the
meeting, and local president, Edna Bell,
welcomed everyone to her church. She
was followed by Irene Hansford, London
Conference U.C.W. President, who
brought greetings and urged participation
in several upcoming events.
In the afternoon, officers for 1990 were
installed by the Conference president,
Verna Burgin of Kirkton becoming presi-
dent for the next two years. Her vice-
presidents are Carolyn Hoshel of
Donegal, and Isobel Scott of Gorrie.
Assistant treasurer is Myra LeDrew of
Listowel. Also on the executive in various
capacities are Susan Howson, Blyth;
Nancy Corrigan and Jean Mathers of
Bluevale; Jackie Gowdy, Gorrie; Grace
Sanderson, Fordwich; Brenda Radford,
Londesboro; and Trudie Ball, Milverton.
The outgoing president, Helen Anderson
Stratford, was honored with a small gift,
and a donation in her name to the Mis-
sion and Service Fund.
Women from West - Huron region
brought the day to a close with a very
fitting worship on the theme.
