Attending the Maitland Presbyterian
annual meeting on Monday at St. An-
drews in Wingham from ' Whitechurch
were Ruperta Milligan, Mrs. William
Purdon, Kathleen Elliott, Mildred Purdon.
Chalmers Presbyterian
Chalmers. Presbyterian Church held its
annual meeting on January 20 in the
'church. The meeting was opened with a
hymn followed with prayer by Rev.
Neilson.
Archie Purdon was nominated to act as
secretary and. Rev. Neilson was chair-
man. The various reports were given and
adopted and; new business discussed.
Four new members were added to the
board of managers for a three year term,
replacing . four retiring ones. New
members are Neil Rintoul, Dave Moffat,
Murray Simpson, David Ross, •
Rev. John Congram is to be anniver-
sary speaker on May -20, 1990; Chalmers
bad a very successful year in 1989 with
all objectives being. filled.

Milligan.. Dessert was served by Kathleen
Elliott and the meeting opened at 2 p.m.
with. Mary Snnpson and Jean Ross as
leaders.
Mrs. Simpson gave the call to worship
on the beginning of the New Year. She
followed with the meditation and prayer.
A reading' by Mrs. Milligan and Mrs.
Elliott followed.
The topic was taken by Jean Ross on
Your New Year. She said many people
make' resolutions and never keep them,
others make them and keep them for a
short while, but it is -better to try and
fail, then never to try.
The reading called The Land of Begin-
ring Again was given by Norma Rintpul.
• Dora Neilson read the minutes • and
Mrs. Elliott conducted the business: The
rollcall was answered, by 12 members
with :a verse containing the word begin-
ning. The offering Was received a*Mrs.
Mildred (A) Purdon gave the offertory
prayer.
Mary Simpson, and Mildred ` Purdon
reported on the visiting they did in
January to shut-ins. Rev. and Mrs..
Neilson will do the February visiting.
A donation was given %o Evangel Hall
in Toronto, a Presbyterian run food bank
with coffee and food for the needy and.
people in distress.,
World Day of Prayer will be held in
the United . Church on March 2: The
February meeting will be held at Norma.

Michael MacDonald of Kincardine, son
of George and Andrea MacDonald, spent
the weekend with his grandparents,
Finlay and Margie MacDonald.
The community is sorry to hear that
Mayne Wilkins' mother, Stella Irwin, of
Kinloss 'Townships, is a patient in the
Wingham Hospital at present.
Ewan and Marl MacLean were in
Wyoming for a couple of days with
Marl's brother and sister irelaw, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Williamson. While there Ewan
•
had an operation ori his left eye to have
a cataract removed.
On Sunday Barry and'Betty Jones had
their Sunday dinner with John and Judy
Sinclair in Clinton and on Wednesday the
Jones had visitors from St. Mary's,
Clarence and Joyce Tate, for lunch and
they enjoyed a nice visit.
Cecil and James Webster of Waterloo
visited on the weekend with their mother
Kae Webster: On Saturday Cecil and Jim
were in Kincardine,to attend a meeting
of .the Sno Bird Snowmobile Club. The
club had a 50/56 draw. The draw was
made by Gus Kupper and was won by
Ted Christian , of Kincardine.
Congratulations.
David and Liz Dadson of Ingersoll were
home on the weekend with their parents,
Gordon and Shirley Dadson of Amberley
