Sentinel, Wednesday, December 23, 1987 ACKERT - RUMSEY Wild Echo Lodge, Port Stanton, Ontario, was the scene of the marriage of Marc Ackert and Heather Rumsey on October 24, 1987. Rev. Mrs. Higginson officiated at the ceremony. Marc is the son of Lloyd and Helen Ackert of 2020 Sherbrooke Street, Peterborough, formerly of Holyrood. Heather is the daughter of Jack and Nor- ma Rumsey of Cumerland Beach, Ontario: Matron of honor was Jill Russell of Bowmanville and David Ackert of Houston, Texas acted as his brother's groomsman. A reception was held in Wild Echo Lodge. The newlyweds will honey- moon in England in March, at which time ,Marc's brother David will be married. Marc and Heather are residing in Peter- borough (Box 1). (Photo by Paul Gilbert). EDWARD (TED) WHITBY Ted Whitby of 103 Patrick Street East, Wingham died on Monday December 14, 1987 in his 74th year. Born in London, England on December 17, 1913 he came to Lucknow as a baby. Mr. Whitby attended school in Lucknow and in earlier years was a night watchman and Constable in Wingham. On his retire- ment he was the Town Superintendent for the Town of Wingham. Mr. Whitby joined the 97th Battery of The Royal Canadian Artillery in 1939 along with his brothers George and Sid. At the time of joining three other families in Lucknow also had three sons join, as well as a Kincardine family with three brothers joining. All of these young 'men returned home safely. On February 1, 1941 he married Helen M. Gibb, who predeceased him on December -1 j981. Mr. ' • ► a member of the Royal Canadi • Legion, Branch 180 Wingham, and St. . ul's Anglican Church, Wingham. Sury g Mr. Whitby are his children, David and Ruby Whitby, Merrickville; George and Beth Whitby, Wingham; Linda and Alex Mawhinney, Lucknow; Joan Whitby, Elrose, Sask.; Nancy and David O'Neil, RR 1, Wingham; Marie Fryfogle, Kamloops, B.C.; Karen and Peter Braun, Wingham and Pamela and Donald Burley, Chetwynd, B.C. Mr. Whitby is also survived by his brothers Russell Whitby and George Whit- by, both of Lucknow, and sisters, Rose ---Knight -of London and Evelyn ,Rouse of Barrie. Fourteen granchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his son, Edward in 1978; his grandson, Nathan O'Neil in 1978; two brothers and one sister. EDWARD FREINDORF Edward Freindorf of 537 Stauffer Street, Lucknow died in Wingham and District Hospital, on December 8, 1987 in his 85th year. A retired farmer, Mr. Freindorf was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Born on June 12, 1903, in Austria, Mr. Freindorf was a son of the late Frank Freindorf and Theresa Sodnski. Mr. Freindorf is survived by his wife the. former Vera Szozda; three sons, Stan of Kitchener, Leo of Prince George, B.C. and Fred • Culross Township; one sister Neill `':' ouch of Kitchener; 12 grand-. chil . and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. MacKenzie and. McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow were in charge of the funeral arrangements. The funeral service was conducted by Father Ed Dentinger from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 11. Flower bearers were grandchildren of Jason and Jennifer Freindorf. Pallbearers were three friends Barry McDonagh, Floyd Milne and Doug Halden- by and three nephews, John Szozda, Florian Szozda and Leo Couch. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. KAMM e• v,. MARGARET MYRTLE (COOK) McQUILLIN M. Myrtle McQuillin, formerly of Lucknow, passed away in County of Bruce General Hospital December 10, 1987. She had been a resident .of Brucelea Haven since April 1987. She was in her 88th year. Myrtle was born in West Wawanosh Township, February 25, 1900, to Samuel and Maryanne Cooke. She married Herbert McQuillan on March 31, 1920, at the home of her parents. Mrs. McQuillin is survived by her hus- band Herb, two sons Sam and his wife Marion of Sauble Beach, Carmen and his wife Mary of Fergus, ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, one sister Dol- ly Menary and one brother, Chris- Cooke. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were conducted at MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow by The Rev. Merelyn Letson, of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow on December 13. Flower bearers were great grand- daughters, Heather, Kristine, and Kelly McQuillin of London. Pall bearers were grandsons. Ralph Fairweather of Salem, John McQuillin of London, David McQuillin of Princeton, Bill McQuillin of Ayr, James McQuillan of Guelph and Dick McQuillin of Jarvis. Rev.
