CGIT candlelighting
The Lucknow CGIT Vesper Service
opened last week with a skit at Hurry
Harry Mall. Newscaster Julie Nicholson
interviewed Joy Foran as Gwendolyn
Gimme, Roxy Bergman as Grandma Bea
Busy, Janine Helm as Mr. Bah Humbug,
Megan Johnstone as Peggy Party, Jen-
nifer Porter as Ms. Ima Ware and Tanya
Sutherland as Cara Lot.
President Debbie Nicholson was leader
of the service while readers included Bon-
nie Henderson and Marita MacDougall.
Scriptures were read by Tammy Neable,
Jennifer Cranston and Sara Nelson. The
voice was Rev. Gerald McFarlane.
Tanya Sutherland also sang a solo as the
skit group came forward to light candles of
Christmas, Forgiveness, Celebration and
New Awareness. The United Church Choir
sang "Love Came Down at Christmas"
and "Do You Hear What I Hear". The
CGIT group sang "Hey, Hey, Anybody
Listening" while Barbara Willits sang "I
Am the Light of the World" during the
CGIT candlelighting. The service was ac-
companied on the organ and piano by Tony
Stickings.
A time of fellowship followed the
service.
The Lucknow and District Kinettes Executive for the 1988 season include (left to
right) Joanne McDough, secretary; Nancy Aitchison, president; Joanne Pentland,
registrar and vice president; and Wilma Blake, treasurer and past president. Absent
was Sue Mullin, who will act as Bulletin Editor. Although small in numbers, the Kinet-
tes are mighty in the aniount of time and effort they put towards community events.

,, 4-H News
The Whitechurch 4-H girls have decided
on the name Nifty Needlers for their club.
The decision was made when the group
met on December 14 at the home of Mrs.
Kathleen Elliottt.
The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge
and the minutes were read and approved.
Roll call was to show the fabric and pat-
tern each member had brought and to tell
how to wash it.
Kathy Dow demonstrated how to place a
pattern on the material and how to cut it
out. Each member did this with the help of
the leaders.
The lesson for the evening was talking
about the advantages and disadvantages
of cotton.
The next meeting will be held at Mrs.
Elliott's on January 4.
Chalmers W.M.S.
The Chalmers W.M.S. held their
Christmas meeting on December 16 in the
home of Rev. and Mrs. John Neilson at
Turnberry Estate, Wingham.
Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw gave the call to wor-
ship with a Christmas reading.
Mrs. Archie Purdon read the sripture
from St. Luke's gospel.
Nine members answered the roll call
with a verse with third `joy' in it. Each
member than gave a Christmas reading,
or poem instead of a topic.
Christmas carols were sung by all and
Mrs.eilson read the minutes of the
previous meeting.
The ladies aid meeting followed with no
new business arising. Rev. Neilson asked
the blessing before the Neilsons served a
delicous lunch.
Mrs. Archie Purdon thanked Mrs.
Laidlaw for her meeting and also Rev. and
Mrs. Neilson for the use of their home and
the refreshments.
