Newscaster Julie Nicholson interviewed Joy Foran as Gwendolyn Gimme, Roxy Bergman as Grandma Bea Busy, Janine Helm as Mr. Bah Humbug, Megan Johnstone as Peggy Party, Jen- nifer Porter as Ms. Ima Ware and Tanya Sutherland as Cara Lot. President Debbie Nicholson was leader of the service while readers included Bon- nie Henderson and Marita MacDougall. Scriptures were read by Tammy Neable, Jennifer Cranston and Sara Nelson. The voice was Rev. Gerald McFarlane. Tanya Sutherland also sang a solo as the skit group came forward to light candles of Christmas, Forgiveness, Celebration and New Awareness. The United Church Choir sang "Love Came Down at Christmas" and "Do You Hear What I Hear". The CGIT group sang "Hey, Hey, Anybody Listening" while Barbara Willits sang "I Am the Light of the World" during the CGIT candlelighting. The service was ac- companied on the organ and piano by Tony Stickings. A time of fellowship followed the service. The Lucknow and District Kinettes Executive for the 1988 season include (left to right) Joanne McDough, secretary; Nancy Aitchison, president; Joanne Pentland, registrar and vice president; and Wilma Blake, treasurer and past president. Absent was Sue Mullin, who will act as Bulletin Editor. Although small in numbers, the Kinet- tes are mighty in the aniount of time and effort they put towards community events. (Pat Livingtson photo) The Whitechurch area canvassed $265 for the Bible Society which was a little in- crease over last year. We thank the people who helped to do the collecting: Mary Simpson, Pauline Adams, Alice Moore, Norma Rintoul, Mildren Purdon, Margaret Sleightholm and Agnes Farrier. Mr. and Mrs. John Inglis of Victoria B.C. are visiting for a month with friends and relatives in the area. Reminder! We would like to remind everyone there will be NO Lucknow Sentinel published for the week of Dec. 30, 1987. The office will be closed from 4:30 P.M. December 24th till 8:30 A.M. Monday, January 5th, 1988 Fred Davis and sons Mark and Scott of Lasalle visited over the weekend with Mrs. Agnes Farrier. Mrs. Kathleen Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Whytock spent Tuesday in London. - Mrs. Agnes Gaunt of Wingham is visiting a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gaunt of Arva. ,, 4-H News The Whitechurch 4-H girls have decided on the name Nifty Needlers for their club. The decision was made when the group met on December 14 at the home of Mrs. Kathleen Elliottt. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and the minutes were read and approved. Roll call was to show the fabric and pat- tern each member had brought and to tell how to wash it. Kathy Dow demonstrated how to place a pattern on the material and how to cut it out. Each member did this with the help of the leaders. The lesson for the evening was talking about the advantages and disadvantages of cotton. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Elliott's on January 4. Chalmers W.M.S. The Chalmers W.M.S. held their Christmas meeting on December 16 in the home of Rev. and Mrs. John Neilson at Turnberry Estate, Wingham. Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw gave the call to wor- ship with a Christmas reading. Mrs. Archie Purdon read the sripture from St. Luke's gospel. Nine members answered the roll call with a verse with third `joy' in it. Each member than gave a Christmas reading, or poem instead of a topic. Christmas carols were sung by all and Mrs.eilson read the minutes of the previous meeting. The ladies aid meeting followed with no new business arising. Rev. Neilson asked the blessing before the Neilsons served a delicous lunch. Mrs. Archie Purdon thanked Mrs. Laidlaw for her meeting and also Rev. and Mrs. Neilson for the use of their home and the refreshments.
