Sing, say or pay
Whitechurch Women's Institute
The Whitechurch Women's Institute held
their annual Christmas meeting following
a special Christmas dinner held at the
Wingham United Church. The meal was
catered by the church ladies. A total of 28
ladies attended.
The roll call was answered by sing, say
or pay which made for an interesting pro-
gramme. Secret sister gifts were exchang-
ed and new secret sisters were picked for
next year. Two door prizes were awarded
to Mrs. Norma Rintoul and Mrs. Vera
Falconer.
Everyone sang "We Wish You a Merry
Christmas" and an exchange of cookies
brought the afternoon to a close.
Local news
Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Falconer and Jackie
visited last weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Archie Purdon.

with Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross of Owen
Sound.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Rintoul and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and
Heather of Richmond Hill were Sunday
guests with Mrs. Norma Rintoul.
Mr. and Mrs. David Ross visited on Sun-
day with her grandmother Mrs. Appleton
of London who was celebrating her
birthday.
We are pleased to report that David
Pickard returned home on Saturday from
the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whytock returned
home Saturday evening from Monkton
N.B. to visit with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Carmen Whytock.
St. Mary's C.W.L.
Father Frank Dentinger opened the
December 11 meeting with prayer and
read an inspiring poem entitled "My
Christmas Wish".
President Imelda Murray asked for
volunteers to aid with wrapping gifts, for
the Lucknow Christmas Fund. On
December 19, members of our C.W.L. will
assist in packing and delivering of the gifts
along with members of other area
churches.
It was decided to give a gift on money to
newlyweds from our parish who recently
loss their possessions due to fire.
Boxes of clothing and jars of fruit have
been taken to the Friendship House in
Goderich. To be delivered before
Christmas is a large box of groceries
donated by parishioners.
Betty O,Donnell read the poem "Life for
All". Everyone was moved by the reading
and should be joyous in celebrating the
Birth of Christ. Where would our future be
if Jesus had not be born of Mary?
November Cub report
In the month of November, the Luckow
Cub Scouts completed investing all of the
new cubs. To help understand the Law and
Promise, Raksha had all the cubs search
newspapers to find articles that showed
examples of what was in the Lav and
Promise.
We also had our first formal campfire
and drew posters and talked about war and
freedom on Remembrance Day.
•
The cubs took a trip out to Mike O'Neill's
chicken farm where he cut a couple of
chicks to let us see why they died.
We closed out the month with work on
our Red Star and Personal Fitness badge.
The we did some brain teasers and told
jokes.
A big "Thank -you" to all the parents
who helped us out during our November
activities.
