Whitechurch UCW
The U.C.W. meeting of the United
Church Whitechurch was held on Dec. 2 at
2 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Agnes Farrier.
Mrs. Alice Moore gave the call to wor-
ship and gave the topic "The church in
society".
Mrs. Gertie Durnin read the scripture
from Luke 1, 217 and gave an article from
the Upper Room. "0 Little Town of
Bethlehem" was sung. Mrs. Alice Moore
led in prayer.
Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Durnin read from the
Observer wanting U.C.W. members to
take stand on the sale of war toys.
Mrs. Moore read a poem "First
Christmas" also . Mrs. Durnin read
"Prince of Peace is Born". All sang "Joy
to the World".
Mrs. Durnin and Mrs. Farrier played a
piano violin number. The minutes were
read and correspondence read. Donations
were sent to Fred Victor Mission, Alma
College, Five Oakes, Seeds for Zaire,
Medical Elective.
Ten members answered the roll call with
a verse from their favourite carol. The col-
lection and least coin was received.
Christmas gifts were exchanged among
the members. The white gifts were given
to the Salvation Army.
Mrs. Farrier thanked Mrs. Moore, Mrs.
Durnin for the meeting. Mildred Mc-
Clenaghan thanked Agnes for her home.
,The meeting was closed with prayer and
everyone enjoyed the birthday tea.

Everyone got into the act during the LCPS Christmas Concert last week. Friends and
relatives of the students packed the gym and thoroughly enjoyed a great evening of
entertainment thanks to the hard work of the kids and their teachers. The Grade One
class and their rendition of "The Bears' Christmas" was a favorite with the audience.

TOWNSHIP OF WEST WAWANOSH
West Wawanosh Township Council, acting as the
"Celebration 88" Celebration Committee, is requesting
assistance in its selection of township residents as deserving
recipients of the medals and certificates being awarded by the
Government of Canada. Citizens are asked to submit
nominations for council to consider in their selection of such
residents.
Categories are as follows: Medals:
1. Athlete - 1 male and 1 female for outstanding
contribution to their sport and community.
2. Volunteer - for unselfish contribution to sports and
community.
3. Coach - for devoting time to guidance of athletes toward
fair play and sportsmanship.
4. Official - for promoting fair play and sportsmanship.
5. Sponsor - a business for monetary contribution toward
development of amateur sport.
Certificates: (12) These are tobe awarded to others in township
who have demonstrated the Olympic spirit in business,
education, culture or community service. Nominations should
be directed to t Township of West Wawanosh Municipal
Office, RR 2, Lucknow, by JANUARY 4, 1988.
