future agriculturalists to learn and ex-
perience Ontario's livestock industry.

Oxford and Middlesex Counties. Observe
and discuss the various management (e.g.
feeding, breeding and housing) and

become familiar with new evaluation
techniques and to get experience using
them. Visit a livestock market and

Grain Stabilization
Due to favourable growing conditions
followed by an excellent harvest, Ontario
producers enrolled in the 1987 Grain
Stabilization Plan can now increase their
grain tonnage registration by 25 per cent
per crop. The Grain Stabilization Plan in-
cludes the following commodities: corn,
seed corn, soybeans, canola, barley, oats,
winter wheat and white beans. Stabiliza-
tion payments are made when the past
year's market price of grain in the plan
falls below the support price. The support
price is calculated by using 95- per cent of
the previous five year average market
price, with adjustments made for cash
costs. The Grain Stabilization Plan is a
voluntary program funded one-third by the
grower and two-thirds by the Ontario
Government.
Tripartite Stabilization
for White and Coloured
Beans
Enrollment in the Tripartite Stabiliza-
tion Plan for white and coloured beans has
been extended to December 31, 1987.

Kim Rantoul, daughter of Lee and Lila Rantoul, is pictured with her 441 steer that
placed 5th in the open Charlais steer class at the Royal Winter Fair. Kim was named
Reserve Senior in the Junior Charlaas Showmanship class. She represented Huron
County in the All Onatrio 4-H Beef Shwomanship at the Royal. There is a senior and a
junior from each of the 36 counties represented from across the province. Kim ended
up with the Reserve Grand Champion Showman and we offer he a tip of the cowboy
hat for her efforts. (Photo courtesy of Canadian Livestock Photography)
