Lancers one for five
Lucknow Intermediates
The Lucknow Lancers have resumed
play again this season and have found the
opposition pretty tough managing just one
win in five starts.
Friday night the Lancers travelled to
Lions Head where they played their best
game thus far. Unfortunately for the
Lancers, Lions Head also played a good
game and came out on top 6-5.
The Lancers were tied 2-2 after one
period as Grant Gilchrist scored twice for
the Lancers. Each team scored twice
again in the second period with the locals
getting goals from Steve MacPherson and
Steve Simpson.
Steve MacPherson's second goal of the
night put the Lancers ahead for a while in
the third period but Lions Head fought
back and scored two more goals to secure
the win Ray Gerry had an excellent game
in net for the Lancers despite being left to
fend for himself on several occasions.
Sunday night in Lucknow the Lancers
got off to a slow start but were down just
one goal to the Durham 72's after one
period. Durham scored two more early in
the second before the Lancers were able to
get on the scoreboard as they trailed 3-0.
But the Lancers caught Durham sleeping
midway through the second and 3 goals
from David Gibson, Art Clark and Steve
MacPherson tied the game.
Now it was the Lancers turn to fall
asleep and Durham scored 4 straight goals
to hold a 7-3 lead midway through the
third.
Hard on the comeback trail in the third
period the Lancers scored 3 goals to pull
within one of Durham but Durham scored
one more late in the game to secure the
win. Pat Murray and Steve Simpson with 2
had the goals in the third. Lancers travel
to Kincardine Friday night for an 8:30
start and host Ripley next Sunday at 7:30.
