LUCKNOW BANTAMS
The Lucknow Sepoy Bantams extended
their winning streak to three as they
defeated Ripley on Tuesday and Tiverton
on Friday. Both these teams had previous-
ly beaten the Sepoys but fell down to super
work from all three forward lines, good of-
fensive passes from the defense and tough
goal tending.
Lucknow 6 - Ripley 0
Allan Kikkert led the way for his team
gaining the season's first shut out. Kikkert
was kept busy by Ripley as he had to keep
out thirty-one shots on goal over the three
periods that he guarded the net. Mike
Vandervelde opened the scoring on a good
full line rush set up on a pass by Jamie
Johnson. Brad Murray put the home team
up by two after Donnie Gammie hit him
with a pass at the blue line and Murray
took the puck all the way into the net.
Murray opened the second period with a
great individual show as he brought the
puck out fronr'th&-corner and beat the
goalie picking a hole through the crowd in
front of the net. Less than a minute later
Gavin Hunter stretched the lead when he
took a Russel Sutton pass that led to a
break away goal. Vandervelde potted his
second of the night as he put a Chris
Stevenson pass in from his vantage point
on the corner of the net. Mike Miliian
rounded out the scoring with help from
Stan Kikkert, after Millian took , a hard
shot and banged in his own rebound.
Lucknow 9 - Tiverton 6
With Allan Kikkert in the net, Tiverton
took an early lead stealing the puck in
front and firing it past the startled goalie.
Lucknow tied the score when Mike
Vandervelde set up Gavin Hunter at the
side of the net.
Steven Rintoul showed an agressive
move as he grabbed the rebound from a
Russel Sutton point shot and put it past the
pipes. Tiverton evened the score when the
defense was unable to clear the puck and
gave Tiverton a number of inclose shots
before beating Kikkert.
Lucknow went ahead to stay as Rod
Crich worked well with Donnie Gammie
and Brad Murray on a three pass play. The
lead was increased to two when Paul San-
dy and Dennis Park led Murray with a
break away pass.
After the opponents drew within one,
Murray took a pass in front from Crich and
Sutton who were digging hard in the
corner.
In the second period Paul Helm took
over the goal tending duties for the
balance of the game and watch Rod Crich
extend the lead with help from Jamie
Johnson. Tiverton stole another as the
defenseman fell, allowing a clear shot.
Mike Vandervelde scored after a super
show of stick handling. Crich completed
his hat trick as he won a race with the
Tiverton goalie for the puck and was
rewarded with an empty net. Hunter
finished the Lucknow scoring, after Dale
Priestap stole the puck and gaveit to
Hunter who beat the defense and goalie.
The defensive pair of Dennis Park and
Sutton gave an excellent display of penalty
killing as Crich and Murray rested in the
penalty box. Even though outnumbered by
2 they allowed only a pair of shots on net
and had a good shot of their own.
The other pair of Johnson and. Sandy
gave up the puck a little too much in their
own end, but showed super offense gaining
four assists and being very hard to get by
at the blue line.
The next home game will be Friday,
Dec. 11 at 8:30. See you there for some
great hockey.
Pee Wee
The Lucknow Pee Wee A's put away
three teams last week and scored a total of
34 goals in the process. The Wednesday
game against Ripley ended in a 9 - 0 win for
Lucknow with the shutout being shared by
Adam Skillen and Joel Sutton.
Darryl Gibson opened the scoring in the
contest on a corner pass from Vince
Sticklend. The second goal on the night
was scored after Matt Sproul got
Sticklend's rebound off the goalie.
Hard work by Warren Andrews allowet
Chris Humphrey to net the third marker
for Lucknow. Darryl Gibson scored again
on a picture perfect passing play assisted
by Sproul and Sticklend.
The second period saw the flood gates
open as Warren Andrews scored when
Matt Sproul stole the puck at the blueline
and tossed it right on Andrews' stick.
Chris Stevenson took the puck at the red
line and carried it in for the sixth Lucknow
score and Clint Murray put away the
seventh assisted by Brad Rhody with just
47 seconds left in the middle period.
The third period saw only two goals from
Lucknow, both scored by Chris Humphrey
with assists to Chris Stevenson and War-
ren Andrews.
The next game of the three game winn-
ing streak saw the Mildmay net full of
Lucknow pucks as our boys netted 17 to
Mildmays' 2. Chris Humphrey opened the
scoring a minute and thirty seconds into
the first period. The assist went to Chris
Stevenson.
Just 17 seconds later, Matt Sproul scored
assisted by Vince Sticklend. And Brad
Rhody was the helper on a Clint Murray
marker.
With two minutes left in the opener,
Sticklend passed to Sproul from behind the
net and Sproul made no mistake. With just
six seconds left, Clint Murray scored from
a sharp angle after receiving the puck
from Rhody.
Murray started the second period with a
goal that hit the post and bounced behind
the Mildmay net minder. The assist went
to Justin Murray. Justin netted nus own
goal when he picked up the puck at the
blueline n from Duane Porter. Twenty
seconds later, Chris Humphrey scored
with Matt Drennan helping in a flurry of
shots..
Lucknow scored seven more goals in the
last five minutele of the' second. With
Sticklend working in the corner and pass-
ing out to Gibson, Sproul found the mark.
Seconds later, Justin Murray hit the mesh.
The next goal was scored by Matt Sproul
with an assist to Vince Sticklend. Justin
Murray put one up and over the goalie's
shoulder assisted by Clint Murray.
Chris Stevenson finally got the one he
was looking for when he made a nice move'
to put the goalie out of position. Chris
Humphrey notched the helper. Stevenson
scored again seconds later with Humphrey
in on the tally.
Matt Drennan finally connected with
Chris Stevenson assisting at the 7 minute
mark of the third. Last of all, but not least,
was Brad Rhody finding the mark with an
assist to Clint Murray.
The final game played last week by the
Pee Wee A's was an exhibition game
against Kincardine. The game was an ex-
citing one to watch and both teaths played
well.
• Lucknow's Chris Stevenson opened the
scoring with a short handed goal assisted
by Vince Sticklend.
The second goal saw Stevenson find the
mark again, this time assisted by Warren
Andrews, and the hat trick was completed
minutes later when Stevenson picked up
the puck at the blueline from Rod Crich.
It was Stevenson all the way this night as
he netted two more with Duane Porter
assisting before the first period was on the
books.
Justin Murray put away the next goal on
a nice backhand shot. Help came from
Clint Murray. Vince Sticklend decided it
was his turn next as he tiped in the puck
from the stick of Darryl Gibson.
Stevenson wrapped up the scoring mid-
way through the final period with the
assist to Chris Humphrey.
The final score was Lucknow 8, Kincar-
dine 2 with the double hat trick going to
Chris Stevenson.
