They also welcome Jackie Godfrey to their class. The Dinosaur Den Science Lab is learn- ing about water and how to do ex- periments. They've done four of them already! In an experiment you need Ques- tion, Toold, Method, Predicton and Results. There are 14 clues and three in- gredients in their potion now: pencil shav- ings, mouthwash and striped toothpaste. They are still hunting for more clues to change the frog back into a princess. Graham Cere is this week's `Special Me.' Senior News On Nov. 21, Mrs. Tebbutt's grade 6 class started doing road mapping centres. The centres were for Social Studies. They also had to draw road signs and find co- ordinate points for towns in Southwestern Ontario., In Math, they graphed towns and cities in Southwestern Ontario that students had visited. Mrs. Allan's grade 't class is writing In- dian legends and myths, and sending them to Basil Johnson from the ROM to read. They are also finishing their individual assignments on famous Indians. They also had a math test on decimals and fractions. They finished their study of latitude in geography and they are now doing North America. The grade 8's received report cards on November 23. On Nov. 25 they enjoyed a well deserved PD day. They watched the movie of Johnny Tremain on Thursday at the end of the study of the novel. Finally, on Friday they had an English test about Johnny Tremain. Survey This week's survey question was "Who's your favorite group or singer?" This becomes even more crucial with the coming of winter weather. Once again we remind everyone that no snowballs are permitted on school proper- ty. Proper outdoor clothing and footwear is encouraged. We remind students about the dangers of scarves when using the playground equipment. We do allow and support the making of snow scul itures 3 outdoors and ask all students to respect the creations of others. Once again, common sense is the basic safety rule. Christmas Contest The Brookside Broadcast editors are sponsoring a Christmas writing contest for students. Students are encouraged to write poems and stories. Black and white pictures are accepted also. For kindergarten to grade 2 the topic is letters to Santa. The topic for grades 3-5 is draw a map of Santa's house or other North Pole features. Grades 6-8 may write a Christmas legend, an acrostic poem or draw a toy making machine and explain how it works. All entries must be in to the Brookside editors by Dec. 15. SOUTH The community of South Kinloss extends sincere sympathy this week to Peter Edisbury and family on the death of his wife Sally. Also, to William ° and Irene Dickie and family on the recent loss of Irene's father. Bill and Irene Haldenby enjoyed a holi- day in England recently. They visited Er- nie and Pat Parsons who used the live in Max Bushell's house at Holyrood. Bill and Irene were also Sunday guests with Dave and Mary Haldenby of Teeswater. Pathfinders at it again The Lucknow Pathfinders held their first meeting of the season early in November and now boast a membership of some six members. At the club elections held recently, Tanya Turner was elected as president of the group. Mary Jane Edisbury will act as vice president while Jennifer Porter will serve as secretary. Michelle Andrew will handle the duties of treasurer and Melanie Broadfoot is the telephone convenor. Vickie Owen has volunteered her ser- vices as junior leader while Wendy Gerster will be guider. Some members of the local Pathfinders took part in the recent paper drive and it turned out to be a great succs. On November 18, the Pathfinders visited the Pinecrest Nursing Home and had a wonderful time getting to know their adopted grand parents. The group had a fun time playing bingo with the residents and are looking forward to future visits there. ARIIBALD BONNETT Archibald Bonnett, of RRl Holyrood, passed away at the Wingham and District Hospital on November 19, 1987. Born February 22,1900, to James and Catherine Bonnett, Mr. Bonnett was 87. years of age. Archibald Bonnett was predeceased by his wife, Annie. Stanley of Kinloss Township; brothers John, William, Sam, Fales and Robert, as well as sisters Alice Annes, Ida Reid and Annie Brown. He is survived by sons Lloyd Bonnett of RR1 Holyrood; James Bonnett of 'Barrie and Robert Bonnett of Holyrood . and. daughters Ruby Peterbaugh of Ripley; and Jean Winter of Stratford. Funeral services for the late Archibald Bonnett were held November 21 at the Davey Linklater home with Rev. William Baird officiating. Pallbearers included Howard Reid, Elmer Bradley, Fraser Brown, Harold Bonnett, Bill MePh fson and Grant Eckensweiler. Grandchildren Debbie Scott, Donna Bonnett and Kevin Winter acted as flower bearers for the ceremony. y Interment in the Kincardine Cemetery. • A. THOMAS LOUIS DORSEY Thomas Louis Dorsey died Tuesday, Oc- tober 27, 1987 at the Mitchell Nursing Home. He was 67. A son of the late Louis Dorsey and Agnes Morris, Mr. Dorsey is survived by a brother Joseph and his wife Hazel of Dublin, and a sister Mary and her husband Vincent Gooder of London. Friends were received at the Whitney Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street Seaforth, and a Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patricics Roman Catholic Church in Dublin on October 30r Father Car- rigan officiated. Interment was at the St. Columban Cemetery. Pallbearers were John. Arts, Joe Devereaux, Thomas Kale, Bill McLaughlin, Ferg Kelly, and Tom 1Vlelady. Lueknow Sentinel, Wednesday, December 2, 19$7.40age 9 " Jean Anne Smeltzer, daughter of Elmer and Marianne Smeltzer of Huron Township, has graduated with honours from the Westervelt Business School in the Bank Career Training Programme. Graduation ceremonies were held at the London Holiday Inn on November27,1987. Jean Anne has been working at. the City Centre branch of the Royal Bank in Lon- don since March. Nathalie Meurs, daughter of Gerry and Sylvia Meurs, R. R. 1, Ripley, graduated from Mohawk College, Hamilton in August having successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Technology Course. Convocation exercises were held September 26 in Hamilton. Nathalie also successfully completed her certification with the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists in October. Nathalie is a graduate ' of the Ripley and Kincardine High Schools. She is currently employed in the lab in the Bruce County General Hospital in Walkerton.
