Successful bazaar
The Women's Institute held a most suc-
cessful pre -Christmas bazaar and sale of
baking at the Holyrood Centre last Satur-
day afternoon. Every table was laden with
good home baking, gift giving articles and
you -name -its. There were vegetables and
something for everyone.
The president welcomed everyone and
opened the 'event. Mrs. Emily Bushell
presented a display table of Bruce County
Tartans and''she presented the Holyrood
Women's Institute with a very pretty letter
opener which is much appreciated.
Mrs. Kini Meyer loaned her lovely
Christmas centres for each tea table. Mrs.
William MacPherson acted as cashier with
Mrs. Alex Percy in charge of special,
draws. The crochet doiley went to Weir
Echenswiller; a block of cheese was won
by Mrs. Margaret Gemmell; the table cen-
tre was taken by Mrs. Kay Collins; the
Christmas cakes went to Mrs. Elizabeth
Fair and Mrs. Annie Culbert.
It was a delightful afternoon of food, fun
and fellowship and congratulations to all
those in charge of organizing the event.
Mr. Glen Haldenby, who had ear surgery
recently in Kitchener, returned this week
to Dr. David Haldenby for a check-up.
Mrs. Alex Percy went to the Wingham
hospital on Monday and had surgery per-
formed on Tuesday. We send our get well
wishes.
Mrs. Jack Hodgins has been a patient in
Wingham and District Hospital recently
and we hope she will be home again soon.
Glen Haldenby Jr. left on Saturday for
Regina.
Mrs. David Haldenby and Julia of Con.
10 spent the weekend at Toronto with Mr.
and Mrs. George Barrell and family.
Mrs. Douglas Palmer of Welland spent a
few days here with her aunt Mrs. Frank
Maulden.
Mrs. Don Bushell, Dawn and Steven of
Silver Lake visited with Mr. and Mrs Tom
MacDonald.
Paster M. Christensen has returned
home after a rest holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Thompson and Mr.
and Mrs. Tom MacDonald visited with Mr.
and Mrs Mac MacDonald and Jeffery of
Kincardine.
Some from here attended the reception
for Mr. and Mrs. Grant Murray at the
Lucknow Legion Hall on Saturday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Don McCosh of Ripley
visited Sunday with Edna and May Boyle.
There was certainly something for everyone at the Legion Hall over the weekend as
the Lucknow Kinettes staged their Annual Christmas Bazzaar. The hall was filled
with tables laden with everything from baked goods to craft items and a good atten-
dance was reported for the event. One of the most popular displays at the bazzar was
the table of hand -made dolls that act as cookie jar guards. You can bet a lot of
Christmas lists were filled thanks to the handl-work of the Kinettes and other area
presentors. (Rob Bundy photo)
