Bagged five last week
Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw, Mrs. Agnes
Farrier, Mrs. Jean Ross and Mrs. Norma
Rintoul entertained the residents of
Pinecerst Nursing Home, Lucknow, on
Tuesday.
Mr. Howard Ludwig from Whitechurch
and his deer hunting party from Listowel
bagged five deer last week.
Miss Karen Beecroft of Kitchener, Glen
and Ken Sinnamon of Wingham visited on
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Qeecroft.
Mrs. Barbara Carey of Kitchener visited
with , her parents Mr. and Mrs. William
Purdon on the weekend.
Mrs. Nerma Rintoul and Mr. and Mrs.
Mac Cardiff of Brussels spent Monday in
Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw and family of
Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stewart
and family of Lambeth visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and
Karen.
4-H Achievement
The achievement night of the 4H clubs
was held in Whitechurch Hall Thursday,
November 12, at 7 p.m. The Whitechurch
Veggies was the host club.
Chairperson, ' Karen Elliott welcomed
the various clubs from Belmore, Formosa,
Teeswater and Whitechurch.
A presenttion of a five year certificate
was made to Joanne Becker.
Presentation of sixth awards went to
Ammy Jo Long, Charles Schiestel, and
Marilyn Smith.
Karen Elliott received her twelfth
award.
The special speaker was Albert Whiting
from the Garden of Lettuce Greenhouse in
Cargill, who was introduced by Cathy Dow
and thanked by Cathy Selent.
A draw for an Ontario fruit basket was
made during the evening with Karen
Elliott as the winner.
Thankoffering
The fall thankoffering meeting of the
Chalmers WMS Whitechurch was held
Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the
Presbyterian Church. The president, Mrs.
Kathleen Eliott gave the call to worship
followed by a hymn.
The scripture was taken by Mrs. Archie
Purdon. The meditation `going on a
journey' was given by Mrs. Elliott folllow-
ed with prayer and choir singing.
Mrs. Elliott introduced the guest
speaker, Miss Clara Henderson, daughter
of Rev. and Mrs. William Henderson of
Lucknow, who gave an excellent slide
presentation and told of her work in the
mission fields in Malawi.
Mrs. Jean Ross thanked Clara and
presented her with a gift.
Mrs. Ross then played a medley of music
on the organ.
Rev. Mr. John Neilson closed with
prayer and a delicious lunch was served
downstairs to guests from Wingham,
Lucknow, Belmore and Whitechurch
UCW.
Visiting on Wednesday evening with
Barry and Betty Jones was Lyle and Barb
Martin of Listowel.
Pine River United Church held its con-
gregational pot luck supper on Sunday
evening.
After dinner Jack and Linda Campbell
showed slides on their trip up the West
Coast of Canada to Alaska, Dawson City
and a number of places of interest. The
scenery is very breathtaking.
Todd Farrell, son of Ken and Glenna
Farrell showed slides of Sweden from
when he was an exchange student there, as
well as, some of the different places in
Europe he managed to visit during his last
three weeks on the continent.
Dorothy MacLennan and her daughter
Peggy Heffernan of London and her son
Finlay MacLennan of Kitchener have
returned home after spending a few days
in Eurka Falls, Arkinsas where they
visited with D.A.'s sister, Anne
MacLennan.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb were in
Listowel on Sunday attending a bridal
shower for Mrs. Robb's niece.
The WMS of Ashfield Presbyterian
Church held its November meeting on
Thursday afternoon at the home of June
Wylds.
Weekend visitors with Charles and
Mayme Wilkins and Ken were Bill and
Joanne Wilkins, Stacy and Ian of Guelph,
Elizabeth Wilkins of Mount Forest, Bar-
bara Wilkins of Paris and Mayme's sister
Ruby Reich of Woodstock. Ruby also
visited with her mother and brother Stella
and Lloyd Irwin of Kinloss Township.
Steven Miller, son of Bruce and Louise
Millar of Palmerston and a grandson of
Rhetta MacLennan will be leaving shortly
for West Germany. Steven will be joining
forces with other hockey players and will
be playing for Canada for the next four to
five months. Congratulations and good
luck Steven.
That's David G. Swan of Lucknow showing off his $1,200 smile. Last week, Mr. Swan
won the Lions Radio Bingo Contest and Lucknow Lion Grant Farrish was on hand
quickly to make the presentation of the cheque. Mr. Swan says he picked up his Lions
Radio Bingo Card at Bain's and won with the fewest numbers called hi the history of
the contest. Congratulations David. Did we hear you say you were buying coffee?
