We have benn watching films about bears and are making bear books. On Fri- day, we had the priviledge of going to Ripley. "Thank you for inviting us, Ripley. It was just great!" Grade One and Two We have been working with money this week. We all want to be ready for Chas xnas shopping. The Grade Ones are very excited about being invited to Ripley to see the production of `Harry the Dirty Dog'. The Grade Two's spent extra time on their computers set up in the library and LCPC they felt this was a special treat. Grade Two and Three We had an exciting week. We have been studying dinosaurs and we went on a field trip to see dinosaur skeletons at the Bruce County Museum. We felt very thin beside these huge creatures. Back in the classroom, we made dinosaurs out of `goop' and put them on the heater to dry. • They should be ready to paint next week. Grade Three and Four We started a new Environmental Studies unit on Scandinavia this week. We are go- ing to learn about life in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. We also got an Apple Computer in our room. We are having fun doing math pro- grams with it. Doug Johnston, Steven Sellars, Lucas Thacker and Brcue Bolte were judged as having the best safety posters by their classmates and received well deserved house points for their efforts. The Grade Fours are just now beginning a new math unit on multiplication. Subject to change. ing Me' series which always proves interesting. Multiplication is going well although there appears to be sone troubles with three digit multiplication. We look forward to solving these problems shortly. We have now started our new unit on China. Grade Seven and Eight Research has been the order of business for the Grade Sevens this week. It is simp- ly amazing just how many different sources our school has for information. We are becoming experts on our House League countries. Mr. McKeon's Grade Eights have also been quite involved in a unit that makes us aware of the television arts. Our end pro- duct will be to write, produce and act in a "TV production. This week was a busy one with lots of tests. We worked on managing our time to be sufficiently prepared for each assignment. The try outs for both boys and girls volleyball also began this week so we are all practicing our skills Special Notes Thanks are to be given to the conununity for so fully supporting our gift fund raising campaign. We sold ` over $8,000 worth of merchandise and this will give us about $2,500 to put towards the special needs of our school. Please circle Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m. on your calender as this is the day of our Christmas concert. Everyone is welcomed. Also, Doctor Zed (Gordon Penrose) will be at the school Book Fair on December 1 to the 7th. Interviews will be held on December 7 when the library will be open until 9 p.m. With winter coming please be careful and watch for children sliding and playing at the side of the road. We're still here By the way, the school band is still alive and tooting on their instruments. The group entertained many at the Fall Fair and parade in September and we were also part of the Remembrance Day ceremonies. But that's not all....last weekend we marched in Wingham in their Santa Claus Parade. And don't forget the Carolfest at the Lucknow United Church on December 2 and the Lueknow Santa Claus Parade on December 5. We hope you realize all the places we play and appreciate all the work we put in- to our music. Thank you for listening...the Lucknow School Band. On the mend On Tuesday evening of last week, the UCW treated the Willing Workers, their husbands and children to a delicious sup- per followed by a film. Jean and Ivan Henderson of Weston visited with the Errington and Henderson relatives here over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Petter Roberts of Illinois are visiting their son Bob and his children at the Manse while Karen spends some time visiting with her mother. Ed Godfrey and son Michael of Toronto visited on the weekend with his parents, Howard and Marlene Godfrey, as well as other family members. We're sorry to hear that Louise Brindley fell and broke here wrist last week. It just so happens it was her right wrist and this might curtail her card shuffling for a few weeks. Best wishes while you're on the mend Louise. There were 12 tables of euchre at the Seniors Centre on Wednesday evening last week. The high lady's score of the evening was shared by Louise Brindley and Max- ine Pollock with Louise winning the cut. Low score was Aileen Trommer. High mens score was taken by Carmen Pollock while brother Cecil captured the low score.
