We have had a good week in Grade One
reading our new reader, waking. lots of
rhyming words and printing short stories.
We have benn watching films about
bears and are making bear books. On Fri-
day, we had the priviledge of going to
Ripley. "Thank you for inviting us, Ripley.
It was just great!"
Grade One and Two
We have been working with money this
week. We all want to be ready for
Chas xnas shopping. The Grade Ones are
very excited about being invited to Ripley
to see the production of `Harry the Dirty
Dog'.
The Grade Two's spent extra time on
their computers set up in the library and
LCPC
they felt this was a special treat.
Grade Two and Three
We had an exciting week. We have been
studying dinosaurs and we went on a field
trip to see dinosaur skeletons at the Bruce
County Museum. We felt very thin beside
these huge creatures.
Back in the classroom, we made
dinosaurs out of `goop' and put them on the
heater to dry. • They should be ready to
paint next week.
Grade Three and Four
We started a new Environmental Studies
unit on Scandinavia this week. We are go-
ing to learn about life in Sweden, Norway,
Finland and Denmark.
We also got an Apple Computer in our
room. We are having fun doing math pro-
grams with it.
Doug Johnston, Steven Sellars, Lucas
Thacker and Brcue Bolte were judged as
having the best safety posters by their
classmates and received well deserved
house points for their efforts.

This is a Typical Week's Activities. Subject to change.
ing Me' series which always proves
interesting.
Multiplication is going well although
there appears to be sone troubles with
three digit multiplication. We look forward
to solving these problems shortly.
We have now started our new unit on
China.
Grade Seven and Eight
Research has been the order of business
for the Grade Sevens this week. It is simp-
ly amazing just how many different
sources our school has for information.
We are becoming experts on our House
League countries.
Mr. McKeon's Grade Eights have also
been quite involved in a unit that makes us
aware of the television arts. Our end pro-
duct will be to write, produce and act in a
"TV production.
This week was a busy one with lots of
tests. We worked on managing our time to
be sufficiently prepared for each
assignment.
The try outs for both boys and girls
volleyball also began this week so we are
all practicing our skills
Special Notes
Thanks are to be given to the conununity
for so fully supporting our gift fund raising
campaign. We sold ` over $8,000 worth of
merchandise and this will give us about
$2,500 to put towards the special needs of
our school.
Please circle Thursday, December 10 at
7 p.m. on your calender as this is the day of
our Christmas concert. Everyone is
welcomed.
Also, Doctor Zed (Gordon Penrose) will
be at the school Book Fair on December 1
to the 7th. Interviews will be held on
December 7 when the library will be open
until 9 p.m.
With winter coming please be careful
and watch for children sliding and playing
at the side of the road.
We're still here
By the way, the school band is still alive
and tooting on their instruments. The
group entertained many at the Fall Fair
and parade in September and we were also
part of the Remembrance Day
ceremonies.
But that's not all....last weekend we
marched in Wingham in their Santa Claus
Parade. And don't forget the Carolfest at
the Lucknow United Church on December
2 and the Lueknow Santa Claus Parade on
December 5.
We hope you realize all the places we
play and appreciate all the work we put in-
to our music.
Thank you for listening...the Lucknow
School Band.
On the mend
On Tuesday evening of last week, the
UCW treated the Willing Workers, their
husbands and children to a delicious sup-
per followed by a film.
Jean and Ivan Henderson of Weston
visited with the Errington and Henderson
relatives here over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Petter Roberts of Illinois
are visiting their son Bob and his children
at the Manse while Karen spends some
time visiting with her mother.
Ed Godfrey and son Michael of Toronto
visited on the weekend with his parents,
Howard and Marlene Godfrey, as well as
other family members.
We're sorry to hear that Louise Brindley
fell and broke here wrist last week. It just
so happens it was her right wrist and this
might curtail her card shuffling for a few
weeks. Best wishes while you're on the
mend Louise.
There were 12 tables of euchre at the
Seniors Centre on Wednesday evening last
week. The high lady's score of the evening
was shared by Louise Brindley and Max-
ine Pollock with Louise winning the cut.
Low score was Aileen Trommer. High
mens score was taken by Carmen Pollock
while brother Cecil captured the low score.
