The Annual Remembrance Dayvice
was held in the Community Centre (coil 8)
sponsored by the Holyrood Women's In-
stitute on Nov. llth at 10:45 a.m.
Mrs. William MacPherson was chair
person and welcomed everyone present
and asked Mrs. Walter Breckles to place
the Wreath which was followed by the two
minutes silence in memory of those who
had paid the supreme sacrifice in two
World Wars. 0' Canada was sung followed
by a reading by Mrs. Lorne Eadie, Why we
wear a poppy. The hymn, 0 God our hiep
in ages past was sung and the Reeve of our
Township Mr. Barry Johnston brought
greetings and congratulated the H.W.I. for
arranging such a fine service yearly and
also spoke briefly as this is the first service
held in this building (formerly Kinloss
Central School) . Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller
called on the speaker Mr. Walter Breckles
a veteran of World War Two, who gave a
most interesting account of his year's in
Military service and how awful war is.
How grateful we all should be to live in our
great Dominion of Canada.
Mr. Don Robertson with his violin
favoured with the much loved "Whisper-
ing Hope". Mrs. Charles Murray gave a
suitable reading. Fight the good fight was
sung before we closed with God Save the
Queen, Mrs. Mac Pherson expressed ap-
preciation to all and was also the piano
accompanist.
On Thursday afternoon the Anglican
Church Women had their annual Friend-
ship day and Bazaar at the church. Ladies
from Ripley Kingarf, Purple Grove and
Lucknow and local ladies joined with us for,
a fine time of fellowship. The President
Mrs. Roy Collings welcomed everyone and
read a poem and the Scripture. The Hymn
Bloom where you are planted was sung.
Mrs. Eric Thacker gave a nice reading on
Appreciation. We often fail in our daily
round to show our appreciation by a friend-
ly note or phone call It's a small courtesy,
but let us all remember it may make
somebody's day brighter.
Rev. Merelyn Letson gave a lovely talk
on a retreat that she had been on this week
and finding such peace and God's presence
in a quiet wooded area where the birds
were happily singing and deer frisking
about near a stream. God's beauty and
creation is all around us. The president
than asked all to come and view the tables
with food, clothing, household articles, etc.
and all were good to purchase the things of
their choice, after which we sang Peace is
flowing like a river. Mrs. Harvey Cooper
was accompanist at the piano. Lunch was
enjoyed with a cup of tea. Agnes Hodgins
delighted everyone with a good humoro
reading and a most enjoyable afternoon
was brought to a close. Hope to see you all
again when the second Nov. Thurs. in 1988
rolls around.
Ladies from our area had a delightful

mother Mrs. John Barr's birthday so we
sang a happy belated Birthday Dear Cara.

farewells had to be said, but it was a
delightful afternoon for all present.

from Kincardine hospital. We hope he
keeps improving.
Mr. Herman Lanting had to have his leg
amputated on Tuesday at Wingham
Hospital. We send our get -well wishes.

ton visited with Mr. and Mrs. Edert
Bushell and other relatives here.

patient in Wingham Hospital. We wish her
a speedy recovery.
On Sunday the Presbyterian Congrega-
tion held a family service with a luncheon
following.
