The November iieeting of the Lucknow
Women's Institute took place in the Town
Hall with 15 members and one visitor pre-
sent. The Education and Cultural Affairs
Committee, Kay McIntosh, Elizabeth
Robinson and Jean Whitby served dessert
and tea.
President Dorothy Brown chaired the
meeting for the business. The Ode was
sung and the Collect repeated. Dorothy
Brown read Remembrance Day poems.
The Fisher family held its Christmas
dinner on Saturday night in the Brussels
Community centre. Those attending were
Bill and Mary Fisher from Hamilton; Gor-
don Fisher from Aurora; Joan Fisher
Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Fisher,
Lorie Christopher and friend Roli; Teddy
Fisher and friend Becky from Niagara
Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Reid Russel and fami-
ly from Mount Bridges; Mr. and Mrs. Ar-
nold Lougheed and Andrew from Niagara
Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bajt and baby.
daughter from Toronto; Mr. and Mrs.
Randy Dear from Whitby; Bill Gibson and
Katherine Sortori from Goderich; Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Newman and boys from
Ayton; Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Machan and
family from Brussels; Mrs. Rena Fisher
from Wingham.
Many of the relatives spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gibson of
Whitechurch.
Mrs. Gibson returned home on Sunday
from University Hospital, London.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier spent the weekend in
Guleph with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Farrier
and attended the graduation of their
ughter Kim from Grade 13. She is atten-
ng the University in Guelph.
The Carruthers and Fisher familys held
a bridal shower on Sunday in Brussels for
the bride to be of Teddy Fisher, whose
wedding took place in Niagara Falls on
Saturday. Teddy is the grandson of Mrs.
Rena Fisher of Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sider, of P.E.I.
visited for a week with their daughter Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw and on Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Curley and family
from Brantford and Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Gallea of Waterford.
Mr, -and Mrs. Gordon Campbell, Heather
from Richmond Hill visited over the
weekend with Mrs. Norma Rintoul.
Mrs. Luella Kerr of Wingham visited on,
Tuesday with Miss Annie Laidlaw.
Mrs. Ann Oberholtzer of Waterloo and
Mrs. Donna Gutoskie of Kitchener visited
Wednesday with their mother Mrs. Norma
Rintoul.
Miss Joyce Tiffin and friend visited over
the weekend with her mother Mrs. Jean
Tiffin in Wingham.
Miss Joanne de Boer from Guelph col-
lege was a graduate from the F.E. Madill
commencement exercises and spent the
weekend with her mother Mrs. Roley de
Boer.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gibson attended the
wedding of Teddy Fisher in Niagara Falls
oh Saturday.
Whitechurch Women's Institute
• The Whitechurch Women's Institute held
its curators meeting on Wednesday Nov. 11
at 8 pm in the hall.
President Helen Currie opened the
eeting with a poem "Yes Poppies Blow",
the Mary Stewart collect, and the Lord's
Prayer. The roll call was answered by a
remembrance of Nov. llth.
The motto was given by Mrs. Elgin
Johnston on Roots. She said you hear of
people tracing their roots, searching fami-
ly history, and we should encourage our
children to ask questions about their
families and to put this down on paper for
future years.
Mrs. Jean McGuire gave the report of
the convention in Durham on Oct. 5th and
Mrs. Agnes Farrier gave the rally report
held in Behnore on Oct. 15.
Mrs. Helen Currie spoke on the
Geneology society and showed how to start
your family tree, and where you canet in-
formation for this.
A competition on petite flower ar-
rangements was on display. The winners
were 1st - Merle Wilson; 2nd - Mrs. Jean
Tiffin.
The ladies made plans for their
Christmas dinner to be held on Dec. 9 at 12
noon in the Wingham United Church.
Anyone interested in going please let Jean
Ross or Brenda Day know by Nov. 25th.

Edna Young read the minutes of the last
meeting and took the roflca1. The Finan-
cial Report was given by Mabel Whitby.
A donation of $50.00 will be made to the
Homebound in Wingham and a dinner
catered to the members in December. A
gift exchange will be held and each
member is to bring a gift foLthe Christmas
Boxes for the needy.
Mary MacGillivray and Mabel Whitby
gave their reports on the Belmore rally.
The program section was chaired by
Kay McIntosh and included a sing song of
songs written in honour of Ontario W.I.'s
90th anniversary with Mary MacGillivray
at the piano. Kay McIntosh gave the motto
The Life You Lead is the Life You Teach.
Ruth Thompson was the guest speaker
and showed a very interesting film on her
trip to Australia. Jean Whitby presented
Ruth with a gift and extended thanks. The
singing of the Queen closed the meeting.
