HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1987-11-04, Page 10Page 10—Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, November 4, 1987 Owen Sound theft This week, CRIME STOPPERS of GREY BRUCE are requesting the public's assistance in regard to a recent theft from a warehouse in Owen Sound. Owen Sound Police report on the night of August 25, 1987, a break, enter, and theft took place at the J.C. Cruickshank Limited, Farm Equipment Dealership on Second Avenue East in Owen Sound. The person (s) responsible for the theft entered the company warehouse on 17th Street, taking several case lots of "farm toys" which were to be on display at the in- ternational plowing match in Meaford. The toys had been stored in the warehouse for approximately one week prior to the theft. It is believed the culprit(s) entered the building by crawling under the sliding door which was later opened. The culprit(s) played with some of the toys while they were inside the warehouse. The toys were taken in their cases and toy car- tons were discovered in nearby forage wagons. The quality of the goods taken in- dicates the culprit(s) may have used a vehicle, but that is not confirmed. The toys taken include 1/16th scale con - The past weekend, Rhetta and Marion MacLennan enjoyed the company of Jack MacLennan of Stratford, Jason Morton of Point Clark, Eugene McGee of Sheperton and Colin MacLennan of Agincourt. Kae, Jim and Cecil Webster visited with their aunt Norma Young in Goderich. Visitors with ' the Websters this Sunday were Jack and Marion Smith of Clinton. On Wednesday last week, Betty Jones visited in Clinton with Judy Sinclair, formerly of the Amberley area. Rhetta, Marion and Colin MacLennan spent an evening recehtly with Dorothy MacLennan. Sharlene Jones of Guelph 'was home on the weekend with her parents, Barry and Betty Jones to celebrateher birthday. Also with the Jones on the weekend was Margo Jones of Dorchester. Mrs. Gordon Robb was up at Chesley for CRIME: struction equipment, trucks, farm trac- tors, and farm sets, as well as miniatures and reproductions of antique tractors. The value of the toys taken in the break-in is more than $1,600.00. As we move into the Christmas season, these toys may be sold at substantially reduced prices and anyone being offered these items should be suspicious of their origin and is requested to contact CRIME STOPPERS immediately. By Kae Webster a couple of days with her daughter and son-in-law, Bon and Sharon Darling. Dorothy Finlayson has_ returned home after a couple of weeks in Victoria and Vancouver. In Victoria she visited with her son, daughter-in-law and grandaughter. while in Vancouver she saw a number of friends and relatives. She says the scenery was beautiful but the weather was very dry. Maybe they could have some of our rain. Visiting with Elmer and Edna Culbert are two sisters, Peggy McIntosh of Nor- thville, Michigan and Velma Ashton of Flint, Michigan. From the stockyard The market at the. Brussel's Stockyards saw steers and heifers selling on a good de- mand . at fully steady prices this week. Cows sold strong with veal and pigs selling under pressure. There were 826 cattle and 492 pigs on offer. Choice steers sold 86.00 to 90.00 with sales to 9..00. Good steers sold 83.00 to 86.00. Local consigners included 14 steers consigned by Maple Emblem Farms of RR1 Dugannon. Averaging 1216 lbs, the steers sold for an average price of 87.99 with sales to 91.75. As well, 13 steers were consigned by Jim Hayden of RR3 Goderich averaging 1234 lbs. They sold for an overall price of 87.80 with sales to 90.75. Choice heifers sold 85.00 to 89.00 with sales to 91.50. Good heifers sold 80.00 to 85.00. A heifer consigned by Ron Brooks of Lucknow sold for 89.93 with his total offer- ing of 14 heifers averaging 1109 lbs selling foran average of 80.21. Choice cows sold 57.00 to 62.00 with sales of 65.50. Good cows sold 54.00 to 58.00 with canners and cutters selling 47.00 to 54.00. Pigs weighing 30 to 40 lbs traded to a high of 87.50 while hogs 70 to 80 lbs traded to a high of 85.50.
