On Wednesday evening, October 14th, a community bridal shower was held in the basement of the Anglican Church for Bluebirds are back While the Toronto Blue Jays have already headed south to the golf courses this year, the Lucknow Bluebirds are still around...for a little while at least. Bill Henderson of our Village reports a successful season with the bluebirds this year. There was a count of 224 eggs in the various boxes around the area, most of which are located in the Kinloss Township. Allowing for a 30 per cent casualty rate, this would mean at least 150 young birds took to the wing over the summer. In certain areas of the township, the bluebirds are no longer a scarce sight and are often seen during nesting time. On the Thanksgiving weekend, several of the col- ourful birds showed up in the north end of the Village of Lucknow and were seen around for most of the day. This is unusual for this bird which generally shuns populated areas such as towns or villages. At this time of year, of course, most birds are gathering for their, long flight south and this may explain the bluebird's brief stop in the area.
