Golden wedding guests
Joshua West of Stratford visited Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday with Jim and Fran
Farrell and family of Purple Grove. Jim
and Fran spent Sunday with Fran's mother
and dad.
Roy and Maureen Collins and family
entertained Maureen's family recently.
Isabel and Norval Stanley spent Sunday
evening with Morley and Deanna Scott,
Catherine Scott is spending a few days with
her daughter Frances. Don and Jessie
Doupe spent Thursday evening with Morley
and Deanna.
Bruce County Rally was held in Belmore
Thursday. Kay Collins took the car, Anne
McCosh, Gladys Arnold, Marj. Thompson
and June Elliott went also.
Don, Gladys and Anne McCosh visited
with Mrs. Jean Hunter and Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Robertson of Armow. They were also
guests at the Golden Wedding of Mr. and
Mrs. Duncan Convay held at Chalmers
Church on Sunday. -

Deepest sympathy is extended to the Ir-
win families. The Harrison family formerly
of the twelfth, and the Ackert family.
Theresa Farrell spent a night this week
with the McCoshes.
Ethel Gawley is making a good recovery
and is now in Kincardine Hospital after hav-
ing surgery in London.
Thanksgiving guests of June and Earl
Elliott were Joyce and John Farrell and
girls Dick, Don and Anne McCosh and Paul
and Nancy Greenwood and family.
Donald Forster , is spending, a week .in
Rainy River.

TheOctober meeting of the St. Helen's
Women's Institute was held on the first of
the month in the hall. After the opening
ode, the roll call was answered with 'one
thing I am thankful for'. This brought
answers of health, family and being a
Canadian.
The Huron County Rally was held in
Londesboro on October 5 with four local
members attending. -The area convention
will be held in St. Mary's on October 15 and
16. Celia Aitchison will be a delegate but
this depends on the tansportation
available.
Donations were made to the Arthritis
Society and the local 4-H club. The
washrooms have not been finished, one
wall needs covering and ali are to be
painted. Floor , covering is also needed.
Hopefully, this will be done by"the end of
the year.
Card parties will begin on October 19 and.
will continue every two weeks until
December.
Minutes of Yesteryear for part of 1971
were prepared and read by Agnes Lyons.
Celia Aitchison read two poems about
Thanksgiving and Norma Raynard gave a

All units of the St. Andrews United Church
Women in Ripley met at the church on Tues-
day night, Oct. 6.
Ethel White, on behalf of Unit 2, opened
the meeting with prayer and welcomed the
women from the Presbyterian and Anglican
Churches.
Hymns were sung with Mrs. Bob Harris at
the piano. Mrs. White read scriptures per-
taining to Thanksgiving and Miss Christine
Robertson read a message "Festival of
Harvest":
Mrs. White introduced the guest speaker,
Margaret Reif, Who has spent most of her
life doing missionary work in Toronto and
Florida. She told of some interesting ex-
periences in her humorous way. She was
thanked and presented with a gift by
Katherine Collins, ,
Katie Irwin and Evelyn Irwin gathered
the offering and it was dedicated by Mrs.
White.
President, Mrs. Dan MacDonald opened
the business.
Minutes and roll call and committee
reports were given.
Mrs. John Fludder announcedrthe bazaar
for Oct. 31 from 11:30 to 2 p.m.
Mrs. Lloyd Worthington announced a
workshop at Bethel on Oct. 19. Unit 3 is sell-
ing Regal products again this year, orders
welcome.
President Sheila announced that the study
for 1988 would be "Creation in Crisis",
material taken from the mandate.
