Wilbur Brown left the end of September
for a week vacation with his son Wayne
and wife Monique and children Kimberly
and Gregory in Montreal. Wilbur got back
October 6 and reports that the weather in
the east was sunny but cool.
Robert Purves, Ed and Ann Lippert,
spent Thanksgiving at the home of Myra
Walden in Ripley.
Congratulations to Steve and Vicki
Voisin of RR2 Lucknow on the birth of their
daughter Stephanie born in Goderich
hospital recently.
Sympathy is extended to the family of
the late Elaine Irwin who passed away last
Thursday. Also, to the families of the late
Hilda Ackert ofL Elgin, formerly of
Holyrood and Lucknow.
Miss Jane Brown from Banbury, Oxford-
shire, England, is visiting at the home of
her aunt and uncle Dorothy and Cyril
Brown. Jane is a pharmasist working with
four doctors out of a medical centre which
services a large area near Banbury. She
says she is enjoying the autumn in Canada
and has plans to visit Vancouver and Vic-
toria before returning home to England.
Visiting with Bill and Peggy Henderson
over the Thanksgiving weekend were
Alvin and Marion Mundell of Gorrie, Marg
and Clara Henderson of Toronto, Sandy
and Patty Henderson and Emma and Kate
of Gormley.
Mrs. Grace Gibson, Lucknow Women's
Institute, Mrs. Ira Dickie and Mrs. Elsie
Houston, Kairshea WI attended the Grey-
Bruce Area Convention at Durham Oc-
tober 5.
Congratulations to Clarence and Elleda
Irwin of highway 86 who celebrate their
62nd wedding anniversary today, October
21. The community wishes Clarence a
speedy recovery and hopes he will be home
from the hospital soon.

BEEF SHOW AND SALE
Grand champion and reserve grand
champion at Brussels Show and Sale were
won by two Bruce County Members. Kim
Weber, Mildmay, captured top honours
with her light steer. Mandy Farrell,
Ripley, earned reserve grand champion
showing her heavy steer.
Other Bruce County champions include
Dean Ribey, Paisley, for his champion.
medium steer; Steve Cobean, Port Elgin,
with his reserve light heifer and Tracey
Weber, Mildmay, for her reserve heavy
steer.
More than 70 heifers and steers were
shown and sold, this Thanksgiving Monday.
Total sales reached $95,000 with an
average price of $1.15. A high of $2 was
Jaid by Formosa Mutual Insurance Com-
pany . for the grand champion of the show.

COW -CALF TRIPARTITE
STABILIZATION
The 1987 enrollment deadline is
November 16. The premium is $7.p per
cow based on the number of cows owned on
April 1, 1987.
The deadline for entries is November 16,
1987. After that date there will be a late
penalty for existing producers. New pro-
ducers will be exempt from the penalty.
Late entrants will receive 25 percent of the
payment in the first year following enroll-
ment, 50 percent of the payment for the se-
cond and third period, .75 percent of the
payment for the fourth period, and 100 per-
cent for the fifth and 'subsequent periods.
The program) is based on 85 percent of
the previous 10 -year average adjusted for

AGRI-FOOD WEEK
DISPLAYS
On Thursday and Friday, October 8th &
9th, a number of Bruce County farm
groups put up excellent displays at the Sut-
ton Park Mall in Kincardine. The displays
were topnotch and those involved in ten-
ding the displays and meeting the con-
sumers seemed very pleased with the
event and their involvement. •
Congratulations for a job well done to
Zone 2 Sheep Producers, Concerned Farm
Women, and Bruce County groups — Cat-
tlemen, chicken producers, milk pro-
ducers, Federation of Agriculture, cream
producers, egg producers and pork pro-
ducers. Two local producers, Mike Doyle
(apple producer) and John Dickson (honey
producer) also took part and had much of
interest for the public.
A meeting to evaluate the 1987 Agri -Food
'Week program and make suggestions and.
plans for next year's program is planned
for Thursday, November 19 at 8 p.m. at
Bruce Township Community Centre. All
interested persons are welcome to attend.

met last week
There were 16 members of the LucRnow
Women's Institute who sat down to a
delicous dessert and tea on Tuesday, Oc-
tober 13. The committee in charge were
Marybelle Peddle, Winnie Fisher, Dora
Brooks and Annie Shiells.
In the absence of the president, Annie
Shiells presided for the business part
which opened with the ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. "
Mrs. Shiells gave a talk on the Christmas
boxes that are to be packed for the needy
and Mrs. McFarlane • replied. Susan
McNaughton volunteered to help pack and
a donation of $75.00 was made to this pro-
ject.
Edna Young read the minutes of the last
meeting and called the roll which was
ansered with a Canadian industry. Mabel
Whitby gave the financial report.
Theladies.sang 0 Canada and Marybelle
Peddle presided for the program. Mrs.
McFarlane sang a solo and Marybelle and
Dora Brooks shared in the giving of the
topic "Magna International The Queen
was sung to close the meeting.
