To supply water
The regular meeting of Kinloss
Township Council was held on October 5th
at 7:30 p.m. with Reeve Barry Johnston
and all council members present.
Council agreed to participate . in the
Maitland Valley Conservation Authority
program for roadside tree planting and the
MVC is to be notified of this intention.
A petition was received on September 21
from owners of four residences in the
hamlet of Holyrood for the Township to in-
stall and supply water to their residences
from the existing well at the municipal
building, subsequently a proposal from
Dawson's Plumbing and Pump Service of
Dungannon was accepted to supply and in-
stall a water system.
The clerk was instructed to draft a ren-
tal agreement for rooms at the Kinloss
Municipal Buildings with rental rates as
follows: gym $50.00; use of kitchen an ad-
ditional $10.00; each classroom $20.00; ren-
tal fee for local non-profit organizations if
COUNCIL
rented to a Township resident $20.00 e.g.
church groups, hockey team banquets,
card parties etc.
Ontario Hydro is authorized to relocate
two hydro poles and associated lines at
Range 3 NDR at an estimated cost to the
Township of _$214.00. y
By-law 16-1987 was passed restricting
the weight of vehicles passing over the
bridge (culvert) at lot 50 and 51, conces-
sion one to 8 tonnes subject to approval of
the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications.
General accounts for $81,510.00 and road
accounts for $63,140.60 were approved.
October meeting of
Voice of Life Board
Eleven members attended the October
meeting of Voice for Life Board of Direc-
tors. President Jim Bakelaar opened the
meeting with prayer.
Final plans were made for the informa-
tion booth which the group sponsored at
the Teeswater Fair.
It was decided to send a letter to all of
the clergy in Wingham and surrounding
area to help make them aware of Voice for
Life and to explain its nature and role.
The group elected to send a donation to
Mr. Joe Borowski, Winnipeg; to assist in
his costs in taking4iis case to the Supreme
Court of Canada. Mr. Borowski contends
that abortion violates the Charter of
Rights. He seeks to obtain full legal protec-
tion for the unborn. The decision went
against Borowski in two lower courts
despite the fact that medical experts from
around the world testified to the humanity
of the unborn from conception onward.
Sally Campbeau, Education Chairper-
son, reported that CKNX has set up further
pro-life commercial air time to supple-
ment the commercials currently shown.
The group voted to purchase the extra
time, increasing the number of spots in Oc-
tober, November and December to 45 from
30.
•
Mrs. Campeau also pointed out that "18
years later, the fallout from Canada$s
liberalized abortion laws (liberalized on
May 14, 1969) continues. This is evidenced
by post abortion syndrome, more child
abuse, more infanticide, fetal experimen-
tation, physically and emotionally scarred
women, population below replacement
level, general increase in violence, hurt
and helpless fathers, more teen pregnan-
cies, eugenic abortion, medical profession
asked to kill, abortion as birth control and
a call for mercy killing and suicide
clinics." She added, "We, society, are pay-
ing a lvy price."
