To the Editor;
In a village long attached to the spec-
tacle of life and stubbornly satisfied by
pastoral narratives of benevolent cor-
responents, the style of R.B. zooms
throughout the place, waking it up and
preparing it to face the pressing porblems
of modern times.
A.J. Legrand.
Editor's Note:
A sincere thank you from this humble
scribe, Joe. It's readers like yourself that
really make this job worth doing. By the
way, did my mother ask you to write that?

To the. editor:
I would like to make you aware of recent
cases solved through the assistance of the
Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce program.
Kincardine Police report that on
September 10, 1987 a Crime Stopper tip
they received and acted upon, resulted in
the arrest of two young offenders in con-
nection with a vandalism case.
On Thursday, September 10, 1987, two
persons poured gasoline down a drain
behind Sandy's, a main street store, and
started a fire. Police received a tip shortly
after a fire call was made and arrested the
two youths Friday morning. Kincardine
firemen were required to pour sand down
the drain to put out the fire. The drain was
then flushed to get rid of any vapours that
might have been left in the sewer system.
Kincardine Police have laid a charge of
mischief against the two youths..
As a result of a tip received through
Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce, a number
of break and enters have been solved in the
Cape Croker area. Cst. Wayne STEVENS,
of the Cape Croker Reserve Police reports
that between September 8th and 10th, 1987,
a total of 10 break and enters have occur-
red in the Cape Croker area. As a result of
a tip provided to Crime Stoppers concern-
ing the break ins, three adults from the
Cape Croker Reserve have been arrested
and 14 charges laid.
On September 23, Cst. STEVENS and
members from Wiarton and Sauble Beach
O.P.P. executed a search warrant at a
residence on the reserve, the results of
which yielded the recovery of approx-
imately $500.00 worth of stolen property.
The property consisted of bicycles, radios
and binoculars. Crime Stoppers of Grey
Bruce is advised that although 11 Break
and Enters have been cleared with these
recent arrests, there are several that are
outstanding. If anyone has information
relating to these break ins, call Crime
Stoppers at 1-800-265-3787.

Plates
If you're planning to give personalized
licence plates for Christmas gifts, it's best
to order now. According to Ministry of
Transportation and Communications of-
ficials, all plates ordered by Oct. 21 will be
ready for Christmas.
Since their introduction in July '83, per-
sonalized plates have become popular
Christmas gifts at $100 a set.
In the past, the number of orders soared
from 60 to approximately 150 a day by late
October.
However, these plates take six to eight
weeks to delivery, so you should order ear-
ly if you want a set ready for the holidays.
This year, in response to the Christmas
rush, MTC has designed money envelopes
you can put under the tree in lieu of the ac-
tual plates. The recipients can then take
the money to their local issuing office and
choose what they want on their plates.
The envelopes are free and available at
all issuing offices across the province.
Personalized plates may have from two
to six characters arranged in any com-
bination of letters, or numerals and let-
ters, except those combinations used on
regular plates. Combinations which do not
include any letters, may contain up to two
numerals.
