Everybody this week has been talking
about Thanksgiving. A number of the
classes have done activities on pilgrims,
turkeys, and other things associated with
the holiday. This has been' an exciting
week for L.C.P.S.
Kindergarten
This last week we have been talking
about Thanksgiving. We even made a
turkey using our handprints. We are
becoming very good readers. We can read
our colour words and a few Thanksgiving
words.
Grade One
Grade one enjoyed bringing their
parents to visit our classrom on. Wednes-
day evening, and showed off their reading
skills. On Thursday we made paper
turkeys for our Thanksgiving table cen-
tres. Today we are beginning a study on
Wet and Dry. The weather is really co-
operating. Everyone enjoyed the assembly
on Friday. Good work Grade 1, 2 and 3!
Grade 1/2
We really enjoyed presenting our
Thanksgiving Assembly. The children
were really excited that so many of their
parents came to see them perform.
It was great fun making our peek-a-boo
books. We had fun reading them to one

another.
Grade 2/3
Grade 2/3 students have been busy get-
ting prepared for Thanksgiving. They en-
joyed helping with the assembly for Fri-
day, making Thanksgiving turkeys and
having Open House. They have also been
out asking for sponsors for the Partners in
Excellence project. Happy Reading
everyone.
Grade 3/4
The grade 3/4 classroom had a full week
of working on rabbits in their reading
classe. We are learning alot about the
habits and characteristics of our furry
friends. In Health class we got to see a film
on bus safety which reminded us of the
rules we need to take for safe bus rides
home. We got to be Principal for the day in
our Creative Writing classes and we came
to realize what a busy job Mr. Pike has to
do. The grade 3/4 classroom would like to
wish everyone a safe and happy
Thanksgiving.
Grade 4/5
This week we baked muffins and cookies
with Mrs. Lash and Mrs. McNall and we
ate thern the next day at lunch time. We all
made Thanksgiving turkey and were mak-
ing folders. Mr. de Boer came to tell us
about corn. The grade 4/5 class would like
to wish everyone a safe and Happy
Thanksgiving weekend.
Grade 5
The grade 5 students this week have
been very busy. They have been working
on "Monster Menu" recipes. Our En-
vironmental Studies unit is almost wrap-
ped up and are having a test on Friday.
Our "reading apples" have almost
covered one corner. The grade 5 students
are busy reading their novels for the read-
a-thon fundraiser. This month Catrina Ab-
bot is celebrating her birthday on Oct. 18.
Grade 6/7
Grade 6/7 class were weighing the mass
in grams for vegetables such as tomatoes,
carrots and pumpkins. The open house
went really well. There were a lot of
parents that showed up.
Our class is making David McCullum of
Toronto feel at home since be arrived the
first of October.
Grade 7/8
The grade 7/8 class has begun a new ex-
citing novel this week called "Midnight in
a Place". What makes this novel unique is
that it is a thirteen episode TV series. Our
studies are now underway and we are
becoming a little more aware of how a
novel is put together. '
Grade 8 .
The grade 8 class this week has been
bubbling over with enthusiasm. Most are
involved in soccer and cross-country, both
which are completing this week. Con-
gratulations to the hard working boys and
girls soccer participants, who came in
runner-up at the south Bruce soccer tour-
nament. The children's books are pro-
gressing slowly with much effort going in-
to them. We would like to wish Erin
Johnstone a happy 13th birthday. Happy
Thanksgiving!
The Lucknow Central Public,School held their cross-country field day on Friday last
week and despite the cool temperatures, the students had a great afternoon outdoors.
Every participant received a badge thanks to the good folk at the Royal Bank in
Ripley. Mrs. Abbott was on hand fromthe bank to hand out ribbons to the top runners
in the school. The top three runners in the Senior Boys were Brady Rhody; Chris Col-
well and Clint. Murray. Jennifer McKinnon topped the Senior Girls with Jill Sellars
and Tanya Sutherland coming second and third. Top Junior Boys were Stephen
Porter, Shane MacKinnon and Chad Stanley while Heather Askes, Kelly Stevens and
Carissa Redford headed the Junior Girls. The Tyke Boys were lead by Doug Johnston,
Mike Johnston and Jeremy Smith while the Tyke Girls saw Kerne Skillen, Jackie
Murray and Amy Sutherland finish on top. (Rob Bundy photo)
