Guest from Vancouver speaks at Brick Church
Mr. and Mrs. Yuill of Belgrave and their
daughter, Mrs. Betty Feelie of Vancouver
B.C., visited with Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Elliott on Sunday. Mrs. Feelie was the
guest speaker at the Brick Church for the
Sunday morning service.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Purdon visited last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gaunt and
family of Chatham.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw attended
the wedding of their neice on Saturday in
Cheapside near Lake Erie.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Winger of Ethel
were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Laidlaw.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gutoskie of Kit-
chener, along with Michelle and Michael,
visited with her mother, Mrs. Norma Rin-
toul on the weekend.
Mrs. Archie Purdon, Mrs. Walter Elliott
and Mrs. Don Ross attended the fall Thank
Offering meeting of the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church on Wednesday last.
Mr. Nelson Smith from Markham is
visiting a few days with Mr. and Mrs.
Russel Chapman.
Mr. Ross Smith from Russeldale spent
Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Chapman.
A large crowd of relatives, friends and
neighbours gathered at the Whitechurch
Community Hall on Saturday Afternoon
for the open house in honour of Mrs. Velma
Falconer's 80th birthday.
Mrs. Norma Rintoul, Mrs. Walter
Elliott, Mrs. Archie Purdon, Mrs. Wallace
Milligan and Mrs. Don Ross attended the
100th anniyersary of the Belgrave W.M.S.
on Monday afternoon. Refreshments
followed in the Belgrave Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon spent last
week in Brampton with Mr. and Mrs. John
Scheeringa.
Attending the 100th anniversary of the
St. Andrew's W.M.S. in Wingham on Tues-
day last were Mrs. Norma Rintoul, Mrs.
Walter Elliott, Mrs. Archie Purdon, and
Mrs. Don Ross.
Mrs. -Agnes Farrier, Mrs. Dave Gibb and
Mrs. Russel McGuire attended . the Grey -
Bruce convention of the Women's Institute
held in Durham on Monday. Mrs. McGuire
was the delegate for Whitechurch.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sleightholm visited
on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Sleightholm of Brantford.
Whitechurch UCW
The Whitechurch UCW meeting was held
last Wednesday, October 7 at the home of
Mildred McClenaghan.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier, Mrs. Margaret
Sleightholm and Mrs. Hazel Laidlaw were
in charge of the meeting which was prelud-
ed by piano music provided by Mrs.
Farrier.
Mrs. Laidlaw gave the call to worship.
The worship service was then conducted
on Breaking Bread. Three examples were
given on where the mission service funds
are used.
The roll call was answered by eleven
ladies with 'are you in favor of Sunday
shopping'. Minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved and collection
was received. Business was also dealt
with.
Mrs. Farrier thanked the hostess' and
closed the meeting with a prayer.
