Check your equipment
Calling all moms and dads! Have you
registered your child for hockey yet? Have
you checked out their equipment to make
sure it fits properly? Hockey will soon
start. Do you want to hear 'Oh, Mom
(Dad), these skates (pants, shin pads,
helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, etc.) don't
fit', just as your child is preparing for his
first practice? You may suggest that a
hair cut will fix the helmet problem,
however, the other items are not as easily
made to fit. Save yourself the headache
and cheek out all the equipment still left at
the arena. You can buy, at reasonable
prices, almost any piece of equipment
needed from head to toe. You may drop in-
to the arena any morning between 9 and 11
a.m.
As in the past, a late registration fee will
be charged to cover administration costs.
Save yourself the extra few dollars and
register on time. It will also save the sani-
ty of the recreation director. Not knowing
how many children will register makes it
difficult to appoint coaches etc.
Please note any unsold articles left at
the hockey exchange should be removed
by October 20.
Looks different with snow
Sharleen Jones of Guelph was home on
the weekend with her parents, Barry and
Betty Jones. .
On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb
had their daughter and grandchildren,
Sandra, Heather and Mark Darling
visiting.
Weekend visitors with Kae Webster
were Cecil and Jim Webster of Waterloo
and son-in-law Atlee Wise and his friend
Jack Arnold of Richfield, Ohio. This was
the first time Jack had been in our com-
munity when there was no snow.. on the
ground. He thought the district looked
quite different than in winter when the
snow drifts are six feet high.

Barry's relatives.

in-law, Carla and Tom Hogan, were in
Ridgetown recently to attend the wake of
his cousin Mrs. Patricia Giroux, formerly

age. The community sends its sympathy to
the family.
Thanksgiving meeting
The Thanksgiving October meeting of
the Lucknow Afternoon Women's Mis-
sionary Society was held in the
Presbyterian Church Hall recently with
guests from Ashfield, South Kinloss and
Whitechurch W'.M,S,'s attending.
Mrs. Ruth MacKenzie presided for the
meeting. She welcomed all and opened the
meeting with a call to worship- The hymn
"For the Beauty of the Earth" was sung
with Mrs. Moffat at the piano.
The Bible study was taken by Mrs. Jim -
Aitchison who gave a splendid talk on God
as our provider. She took her text from a
number of the verses of Psalms. She also
spoke of the things we have to be thankful
for.

A Thanksgiving prayer was given by
Mrs. Ramsay. Mrs. Donalda Moffat and
Mrs. Norma Raymard played a piano
duet, "The Holy City".
Our guest speaker for the day was Mrs.
Don Robertson. As her topic, she chose
'Give gratitude .for a debt to be paid'. $he
spoke of the iea\atiful,, churches our
forefathers built in gratitude for us to free-
ly worship in.
Following the singing of the hymn "For
the Fruits of His Creation", Mrs. Jim Ait-
chison conducted a Bible reading in unison
with all the ladies present. The meeting
closed with the singing of "Now Thank We
all our God".
Grace was said and all enjoyed a lunch
and social time.
