It's a cats' life
My Life
by Daniel
Everyone tells me I am an exceptional
cat because of my healthy condition at my
advanced age of 25 and holding. I hear that
many people who reach a longevity peak,
have their histories written up. I have
decided no one knows my life happenings
as I do, so why not tell you about it myself.
I am a marmalade colour and I'm rather
proud of my coat. It's still pretty sleek if I
do spy so. I always was a handsome fellow,
although one of my ears is a little droopy,
due to an altercation with a fellow Tom
sometime ago. Believe me he has more
than a droopy ear and he's half my age!
I have a friendly disposition and like to
carry on a conversation. In fact I am a lit-
tle on the chatty side, due in part to my
previous owner and companion.
As a young fellow I had a happy family
life and as time went by, my companion
and I aged together. He was left alone
after a long happily married life and
naturally turned to me for comfort. He'd
hold me on his lap and tell me of hislife
years ago on the farm, of his happiness
with his wife and family, of their devoted
care of him, visiting almost daily,
although allowing us to live in our own
home. He often asked me my opinion on
things and I would tell him to the best of
my ability. When he was preparing a meal
we carried on lively conversations.
Then as things have a habit of doing,
they change. My, dear old friend was no
longer able to stay with just me for com-
pany. He was to spend his last years with
each of his daughters. What to do with me?
I heard a lot of discussion that wasn't
pleasing to me; until a good neighbour of-
fered me a home with her.
Whee! What a relief. I'm not much trou-
ble. I do like my ears scratched and so-
meone 'to listen to my mouse conquests.
Also I only eat one brand of cat food - they
get it in a bag. I still have a resoncent purr
and I'm very particular regarding my per-
sonal care. The lady who I have moved in
with treats me well. When she visits her
family, I am welcomed by yet another kind
neighbour and my food gets moved to her
place. I welcome visitors, preferring
females, showing my good judgement.
The writer of this account knows me well
and now that I have told you of my life, I
feel that, should I depart soon, I have left
something behind.
Wishing you all a fond meow!
Danny
